The non-slip tape might be ok, but I think you can get a can of the stuff that paints on that does the same thing. You might even get some expanded metal and weld sections to trailer where you will be dismounting, and if you find that tractor slips when loading/unloading, you could put some from ramps up onto trailer where tractor treads ride. You might not have to do anything, but something to keep in mind just so you don't have an accident.

Hello Redbug, I agree with BTDT the tape or paint on works okay but can be beat up under not so rough conditions. The light weight expanded metal is what I have found to be the best alternative in most cases (mud, grease, mulch,etc.).spot welded on along edges and in middle of trailer.

Thanks BTDT and Greenedeere,

If I have problems I will try the expanded metal. It seems the way to go. I would never have thought about slipping or even using the expanded metal on the first few critical feet. I have the welder, etc. Thanks.

That has to be the classiest trailer that I have seen in a long time. I am certain that you will enjoy it. I am curious why they set the wheels so far back on the bed though. As for the slippery part, just give it another coat of paint and sprinkle ground walnut shells into the wet paint. That will give you the desired traction and if it wears off, you can renew it easily.

Redbug, You can buy crushed walnut shell or some folks even use really course silica sand. You put down a coat of paint over all or part of the deck (wherever you want non-skid) and spread on the granulated material of choice. You can shpape the ares to be treated with masing tape. When the paint dries then you sweep off the excess granular material that isn't adhered by paint and paint again. Don't go crazy on the second coat, just enough to cover. After the second coat dries you have a nice non-skid finish as is done on boats where tilted slipery wet and fishy decks have to be walked on.

This is way better than the peel and stick anti slip strips, more work, but way better.

Hi Dusty, Pat and Greenedeere,

Thank's for the ideas. Especially the sand and walnut shells. I also would have preferred the wheels be a foot or two further forward. But, I think the anchor points of the hinge and rams may have had something to do with wheel placement. The fulcrum cannot be too far forward, because of the weight shift when dumping.

It would have been nice if they could have made that with a sliding axle. That way, you could move it to the location that best suited the task at hand. Is it too late for a modification?

Using ramps on this trailer, I don't think you will have problems loading when it it wet. I have a car hauler with steel deck and drive up on it wet or dry with no ramps in my 88 Samurai. Very nice trailer, If I only had the money, I would like to have one also. JC
