Scotty, beautiful shots!
I haven't been there for 25 years. Is the water still really clear? What I remember was the water was so clear, looking down from my canoe, that it seemed to be only 1-2 feet deep in places it was 10'+.

Good Afternoon Guys,
Derek thanks for the Mt Washington shots they a beautiful !!! We are going today, although I think its a bit cool and a bit breezy also but the wife says thats where we are headed ! If you read about someone getting blown off the summit, it was probablly us !

Torin, the water is still crystal clear and you can see down several feet while motoring along close to shore and for the most part quite sandy !

Yesterday we went over to our Maine neighbors, Portland to be exact, its about 50 miles and 1 hr 15 min ride along RT #25 and quite scenic ! Great gas prices in Standish, Me btw ! We really enjoyed looking up and down the rapids just west of Standish, Im thinking the Limerick rapids ? We ate dinner in Portland, Dimillos floating restaurant over looking the marina, very nice ! On the way back to NH we were treated to a spectacular sunset and even after the sunset it was a great drive in the twilight !

Its time to head up to Mt Washington. so will try and post back later !:)

You were only about 10 miles from me when you stopped at Limington rips, and 3 miles from my fire station when you were at Dimillos. Hope the lobster was good:rolleyes:. Portland is a fun town to wander around, great nightlife in the old port as well.

Stay low on the rock pile, it was iced over this morning and the wind is howling. At 1230 this afternnon it is 35 degrees and the wind is 55 mph from the West with a wind chill of 19 degrees. I hope you brought your coat.

Good Evenin atgreene,
No lobster, too expensive :p !!! We did have a broiled seafood dinner, not too bad on price ! :) Gee if I knew I was that close we could stop by and say hi ! ;)

Boy your right about that big rockpile, its not for the faint of heart, dont look over the edge !!! On the worst part of the down hill some bozo from Nj is behind me blowing his horn and he is on the wrong side of the road  fortunately he didnt kill anyone !

The view from the top is incredible as some of Dereks pics show, I will post some as soon as possible ! It feels like your on the top of the world, but today you darned well better be holding onto something because we had 60 mph gusts with a wind chill in the teens !

Anyway it was a great day, until my wife decided we needed to stop in the outlets in North Conway !;):)

We get the winds coming from there, so I know all about it. Luckily my house is just down enough so we don't get a direct blow, but lots of places around town do, and I seem to plow most of them:(.

As for Conway, go hop on the train and spend a few hours while the wife racks up the debt on the plastic, that or go sit at the Upcountry Saloon for the afternnon:D.

Scott-- Wow-- memories! I try to get up on "the rock pile" every year with my bike (ever since I've had one that could make it all the way )-- here are some pics from my trip a couple of years ago; I'm hoping to get up again this weekend :D (Sorry--those pics are rather large... that's my '82 Yamaha Virago 750.) You need a place to rest over on the way back, just let me know!

Mt. Washington is a real special place; I seem to always be able to recharge my batteries up there, hope you enjoy it as much!

atgreene-- you ain't kiddin! When going up the rockpile on a bike, layers are shed on the way up Rte 10, then put back on, on the way up the hill-- an amazing difference in temp and weather climbing the mountain!

Thomas-- I grew up "here" also, about 6 miles north of Hanover on Rte 10-- saw the new road put in when I was a kid, used to hunt woodchucks on Campion's fileds up King Road-- where I live now-- who'dathunkit! We probably know each other, at least families-- PPM me. (Remember the Inn Garage on Allen Street?) I live across the road from Charlie King's old place, almost down to Rudsboro. Grew up with Lihatsh's, Elder's, Pelton's, Hayse's. (There's still a lot of them here.)

Good Mornin Irvingj,
First thanks for your pics added to the thread ! Second, I would have liked to stay up there longer but the darned wind was blowing way too strong without holding onto something solid ! ;) But my wife still found time to buy something in the visitors station, you know the one with the heavy chains running over the roof ! What really seemed strange was looking way down on top of Wildcat ski area, I dont think Ive ever viewed a ski area that way ! :)

Anyways Im going to try and paste a link on this post about fun Mt Washington weather facts, talk about extreme weather ! ;)
