My new Kubota with Air ride seat

/ My new Kubota with Air ride seat #61
With hardware, steel and determination you can put an air-ride seat in about anything. I helped this guy who was crushed by a horse and had severe back pain install an air-ride seat in an old Belarus tractor.<img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=387146"/>

That seat is worth more than the tractor :-D

Easter Seals Michigan AgrAbility program got the seat for dealer pricing and donations to pay for the rest. When guys get hurt, they usually can't afford a newer tractor with a nice seat, so AgrAbility tries to help with things like this so the farmer can keep working.

Sounds like a great program and you are to be commended on your part in helping this man.

In a time when many people with the slightest disabling condition want to get a government check instead of working, I think we should be excited to help any tradesman with a disability who desires to work. It might not be possible to accomplish all the former tasks, but they can at least work to their potential. This apple grower with a spinal cord injury put a racing steering wheel on his New Holland TN95F orchard tractor. He can pop the steering wheel off to make more space when he pulls himself into the cab since the orchard tractors are so small. detach steering wheel 026.jpg

I agree completely, we have several TBN members with disabilities who have adapted, not long ago there was an inquiry from a paraplegic needing help.

I've been helping adapt tractors for people with disabilities since 1998 and I'm willing to help anyone out I can. If you hear from someone with a disability trying to use a tractor, send them my way!

Sure will, thanks.

This modification makes the steps look like factory models! Is the frame of the upper step and mounting point on the cab strong enough to support the second step? When I have tried adding a second step onto an upper one, the torque of the second step really makes the upper step and mounting point flex.

No problems so far.

My Branson came with it as standard equipment including high back, arm rests, adjustable lumbar, tilting back, and fabric material (no butt or back sweating like Vinyl) with their logo (no charge for the logo...grin). One of the several reasons I bought an unknown brand and haven't been sorry. The seat makes the tractor. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine. Course along with that they added a steering column that allowed you to set the height of the wheel and move it in or out, for egress or operation positions like I had with my JD Soundguard cab ......but it didn't have the seat.

Also looking fort a way to survive my back surgery on my B3030 with cab. It really knocks me around even with soft turf tires. I installed an aftermarket seat that has a shock absorber mount but this is still not very forgiving over rough terrain. I知 wondering if an air ride will fit in this tight enclosure or will I have to trade the tractor in for something more comfortable. I spend a lot of time mowing my 5 acres here in Kentucky.

Have you taken measurements and checked their catalog?

Find and locate and talk to a small Grammar distributor with the time to help you. Share your problem with them. They can show you how to change out foam, different densities and thicknesses of foam inserts that will allow you to taler an air seat to your needs.

I’m squeezing the MSG93 series seat in now, had to custom drill 2 front mounting holes and weld mounting tabs for the rear base attachments, Its been a really tight fit and the seat arrived with no instructions or hardware. I’m checking with the supplier about this since an expensive seat option like this should at least have mounting instructions.

Seats are pretty simple, bolt them in and hook up the power. My tractor was pre-wired for the air ride seat option so I just had to plug the wires together. The hardest part of your installation is the modifications you already made to the base.

For those with the B3030, the MSG93 seat base was configured with mounting holes that only aligned with the front two holes already in seat floor of the tractor. There was absolutely no way to access the rear of the seat base for bolt installation. I was going to weld mounting tabs to catch the base’s exterior but found the underside of the tractor had foam glued onto the metal area directly under the seat..so..no welding and no fire. I used self tapping screws to mount the tabs to the floor.
The seat track was then mounted and found to still be too far forward when pushed all the way back (not enough leg room). The seat to sliding track interface had to be changed from the original bolt holes to position the seat assembly further to the rear on the slides. Guess what? No bolt holes in the slides so self tapping screws had to be used for the new holes.
The seat is not a simple bolt on for any of those who wish to install the MSG93. It takes patience and play (oh yeah, did I mention the self tapping screws - but drill a small pilot hole for these things to help get them started - and a nice impact drill).
The seat is more comfortable than the mechanical shock variety that I had installed 2 years ago. Vertical motion is well damped. Be aware the the lateral (side to side) bouncing is still quite prevalent with the air cushion providing little comfort.

I’m going to get the armrests ordered now that it appears there is room for these.

The size of the tractor definitely effects how much and air ride seat will help, with stock suspension seats, our M8540 is much more comfortable than the L5740 and close to the Grammar. I bought an air ride seat for the M8540 and it's still sitting in the shed, we will get around to installing this winter I imagine.
