Here's the dif between 9.5x24 and 12.4x24.

I'm not sure about the 7xxx series, but in the larger, 85xx and 95/99xx series the wheel pattern is the same. TripleR is a poster on here. He has the 8540, I have the 9540. Larry had the larger 95xx tires put on his 8540 before delivery.

Nice a picture is worth a 1000 words. I had my M8540 delivered with the larger tires of the Radial flavor who knows if i really see the benefit but they sure look nice.

Yeah big difference. From what I told the M85xx and M99xx share a common in internal gear ratio between front and rear. The M70xx and M60xx also share a common internal gear ratio between them. However, the two sets are different, so the M70xx can't use the M85xx fronts and vise versa even though the backs are the same.

Nice thing with the 7040/7060 is they get the LSD on the front axle.

Yeah, think I had read that one before. Alot of folks where told the same thing I was based on their responses. I do believe it will work fine, but don't see the dealers changing the tires in the purchase and on paper. In this case, the OP purchased the larger set of tires and rims, kept the originals, and installed the larger ones himself.

Dealer did tell me that his tire suppliers are telling them wider tires are coming to replace the 9.5s.

The "wide" series tires are catching on. They are metric sized. Micheln even makes a 25% wider tire to replace the 12.4s that fits the stock rim. That's where I'll go when I wear these out. I frequently carry heavy loads and would like the additional flotation even if their load rating is the same, which I do not know.

I'm sure they won't, I was just showing the tires will work on the 7040/7060.

I've found my dealer will set a tractor up anyway you want if you're willing to pay the difference in cost. The prior salesman often ordered tractors with the bigger tires as they are so popular down here. I haven checked since he left.

Yes you are correct this was the stock tire size for the M8540 i didn't like the look and thats why i upgraded to the 12.4
