Well, I got to use the tractor for the first time today & WOW was I impressed! :-D I use a 5' box scraper and then a middlebuster plow. I could not believe how tough the tractor was. I ran it in 2nd gear and it never even came close to bogging down. (something that my 8N would have easily done)
I had a buddy running it that told me that this tractor was worth twice what I paid for it, easily and he was impressed. Considering he is a hardcore JD owner & farmer (running 105-200HP) JD tractors, this is a big compliment!

Thanks again Mark777 and others for the recommendations and advice!
Seems like one of the bestbuys that I have made..will take pictures tomorrow!

:D

The only thing it gives up to your Ford is weight and thus traction. As far as overall "workability" there is no comparison. If you were happy today, likely you will continue to be happy. And none of those pesky chronic ignition problems so many of the Ns suffer.

Homestead tractor up in BC was famous for the Green and Yellow paint job. Used to be all you could buy around here 10 years ago. That is the straightest old body style YM2000 I have ever seen. I have been looking for a clean one for myself because I like the lines of it but I haven’t come close to anything worth buying. Enjoy your machine and please don’t hit anything with it :)

WAYNE,

WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST ME????????...........Yes, I called Buddy Manning and he was nice to me over the phone.......But since YOU posted what you posted, and "started" what you started (IF there's anything to be started, and i'm not trying to) I was ONLY trying to help out and encourage saintroad.........I feel the need to go ahead and say what I gotta say....

Buddy Manning was real business- like and friendly in the phone conversation I had with him today...............He DID NOT hang up on me, unlike another Yanmar dealer did that I know of.

With this conversation I had with him, that changed my views I had about him........I WOULD NOW buy products from him.......Matter of fact, I am fixing to go up to Franklinton to my Mahindra dealership, soon.........I'll probably stop by on the way back and see what Buddy has.

And Wayne, I am not ashamed to say again, I DO think you run an honest business, from what i've heard.......I think you are very knowledgeable with Yanmar tractors............With that said, I have come to notice that A Wole Lot of people on this particular forum (including myself at times), tend to twist things up................And some do it on PURPOSE just because of their OPINIONS (and just so you know, i do not mean you).

have a nice day,

Travis R

It's not just Wayne. All of us on here have heard you talk out of both sides of your mouth more than once.

Eugene,

I am not afraid to admit it..........I do have mixed feelings at times about all of this.

You know as well as I do that none of this would have ever started if I would have bought a "non-reconditioned" tractor.............I have been on TBN for a couple years now, especially on the Mahindra forum.............I haven't had any problems until I came here to the Yanmar forum.......Some are so full of pride..........I have come to figure out that the Yanmar forum is a good place to go for information, as long as your tractor didn't come from Vietnam................Just look where it all started..........in my thread titled " Proud owner of new Yanmar" and look at what kenmac said...........I didn't do ANYthing wrong. Just posted how proud I was.....Then the bottom fell out when I had my little overheating problem.

You are so true. Have a pristine condition 8N had to abandon it before Katrina come busting through, went back to use it to clear debris and it won't start. Battery, starter good and unhooked before left. Drained tank.
ANOTHER electrical problem with my front engine mount distributor. (1952 8N with 1949 engine) --- Just cannot seem to get rid of replacing coils, cleaning distributor and points and rest.....just a @##$@$@#$ on-going issue especially on the non-side mount earlier engine models.

So, in lieu of spending the $$$$$$ fixing the under-performing and bogging down (rebuilt engine 110 across all 4) 8N, I just got the YM2000, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best!

It looks like a great deal was made!!! :D

Anyway, I think I am going to keep my Mahindra anyhow......Its just a trouble free tractor.......I am going to sell my Yanmar because again, I cant justify having 2 tractors..........I'll make more money with the Mahindra........But I DO like my Yanmar.

Have a good day,
Travis

Then today.

Gizmo36,

I want to call and talk to them........I wonder if they have any bigger Yanmars is stock???...Something in the YM3000 or YM3110 range?

Thanks,

Travis R

That is more than mixed feelings. You need to decide what you need. These are just whims. Are you just wanting to post and be included in conversation?

Or........maybe...... dominate......... it...........

hey man (brent), why would you post a pm? Doesn't that kinda nullify the message? no longer a pm...

Otherwise, yea, travis, maybe you should look at getting a skidsteer at this point... I can't really tell what you need, and it's getting really hard to pin-down what you want.

bye.

Tractors4u,

I thought we ALL agreed that all of this mess was going to end........Remember what "tractorErnie" asked me?.."Travis PLEASE, Travis PLEASE let it go."......I respected him by saying that "I said my peace" and left it at that.......
..........Well, look at what your buddy, LMTC, posted right after my FIRST post in this thread?...........I THINK EVERYONE SEES WHO KEEPS STIRRIN' IT UP.......ITS ABOUT A PACK OF 4 OR 5 OF YA'LL...........Ya'll are NOT against me because I have a Yanmar that was (the big word) "reconditioned" in Vietnam......Ya'll are against THE FACT that I have a Yanmar that was (the big word again, brace yourselves) "reconditioned" in Vietnam and I LIKE IT!....That is the TRUTH, ain't it?.......Sometimes the truth hurts, but we usually survive.......

And you know what else?.........I may post that I want a YM3110, YM3000, Mahindra 5500, or a Farm Pro 2425...........Is there ANYTHING WRONG with me posting this as many times as I want, as long as its in the proper forum?...NO, it isn't.

Another thing,......When I asked Gizmo36 for the dealer's number, I was talking DIRECTLY to him.........There was NO NEED for you to post, unless you 'caught' somewhere in my post that I offended him..Which I didn't..........You said that ya'll (the pack of 4 or 5) say I act like a kid.......Well, maybe so........But it seems like this kid has more sense as to whats going on in here...........I do gotta say that ya'll are being VERY professional AND business like......................yeah right.

I have come to know, from different sources, that I am NOT the only one in this boat............I am just the only one who ain't afraid to post what I think/know, or better yet, "see whats going on", like it has been for years............Who knows, Maybe it took someone like me with a Positive Vietnam Yanmar to come in here on this forum and say what HAS to be said?

I THINK the "pack of 4 or 5" of ya'll, being the business like people you are, try to "control" what is said here on TBN............YOU WILL NOT CONTROL ME...........THIS IS AN OPEN FORUM TO THE PUBLIC...........If you choose not to reply to my posts, I honestly wouldn't understand why, but it is your choice.................I haven't done ANYTHING to ya'll but try to be friendly. AND YOU KNOW IT........Just to afraid to admit it I guess.

I'm against the fact that the "facts" keep changing.

   / My New YM2000 - Questions & Comments! #35
arthr31,

Like I said, "real business- like". Thats why.

   / My New YM2000 - Questions & Comments! #36
LMTC,

The FACT is is that I like it (my YM2000)............But also, the FACT is that its a little too small...........I was going to keep it and buy smaller implements........But, I found out that everything that I need to do with it (mainly bush-hogging and finish mowing) is taking me longer with it than it is with the Mahindra...........And yes, the Mahindra is a little too big......But I now know that I, personally, would rather have one thats too big than one thats too small...........I just have more weed-eating with the Mahindra, thats all........It is kind of a big deal though because I could actually get by cheaper with a little smaller tractor than the Mahindra, I just wouldn't know what to do if I ever needed a bigger tractor than the Yanmar...........Thats why i'm having mixed feelings.

Wow, Travis. I remember being defensive, quick to anger & slightly erratic. That was cured when I grew up and matured. While it is funny, I don't mean it in a bad way. Take time to pick your battles and let the rest go. Don't push to always have to be right, have the last word, or try to be an expert on everything. It seems that you have some maturation to go through to get you right.

Everybody just wants to live a good life and here on this forum share their experience and opinions about tractors. (specifically here, Yanmars) Not too big of a deal. Just relax and enjoy the differences we all have, but when you speak...make it meaningful, speak clearly & decisively...Just honest hometown advice from another southern Louisianaian..... Smile & relax bro!

Thanks.

saintroad,

I really would've appreciated it if you would have sent me A Private Message on what you just said in your last post.........You really don't know how hard of a time a few of these people have been giving me for about the past month.....You just recently joined here.......Just go back and read the posts from about a month ago............I think now that everything will be settling down, hopefully anyway........I am not a hard person to get along with.......I just don't take anything off of anyone...................no hard feelings though.
