Well, I got to use the tractor for the first time today & WOW was I impressed! :-D I use a 5' box scraper and then a middlebuster plow. I could not believe how tough the tractor was. I ran it in 2nd gear and it never even came close to bogging down. (something that my 8N would have easily done)
I had a buddy running it that told me that this tractor was worth twice what I paid for it, easily and he was impressed. Considering he is a hardcore JD owner & farmer (running 105-200HP) JD tractors, this is a big compliment!

Thanks again Mark777 and others for the recommendations and advice!
Seems like one of the bestbuys that I have made..will take pictures tomorrow!

:D

The only thing it gives up to your Ford is weight and thus traction. As far as overall "workability" there is no comparison. If you were happy today, likely you will continue to be happy. And none of those pesky chronic ignition problems so many of the Ns suffer.

Homestead tractor up in BC was famous for the Green and Yellow paint job. Used to be all you could buy around here 10 years ago. That is the straightest old body style YM2000 I have ever seen. I have been looking for a clean one for myself because I like the lines of it but I haven’t come close to anything worth buying. Enjoy your machine and please don’t hit anything with it :)

WAYNE,

WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST ME????????...........Yes, I called Buddy Manning and he was nice to me over the phone.......But since YOU posted what you posted, and "started" what you started (IF there's anything to be started, and i'm not trying to) I was ONLY trying to help out and encourage saintroad.........I feel the need to go ahead and say what I gotta say....

Buddy Manning was real business- like and friendly in the phone conversation I had with him today...............He DID NOT hang up on me, unlike another Yanmar dealer did that I know of.

With this conversation I had with him, that changed my views I had about him........I WOULD NOW buy products from him.......Matter of fact, I am fixing to go up to Franklinton to my Mahindra dealership, soon.........I'll probably stop by on the way back and see what Buddy has.

And Wayne, I am not ashamed to say again, I DO think you run an honest business, from what i've heard.......I think you are very knowledgeable with Yanmar tractors............With that said, I have come to notice that A Wole Lot of people on this particular forum (including myself at times), tend to twist things up................And some do it on PURPOSE just because of their OPINIONS (and just so you know, i do not mean you).

have a nice day,

Travis R

It's not just Wayne. All of us on here have heard you talk out of both sides of your mouth more than once.

Eugene,

I am not afraid to admit it..........I do have mixed feelings at times about all of this.

You know as well as I do that none of this would have ever started if I would have bought a "non-reconditioned" tractor.............I have been on TBN for a couple years now, especially on the Mahindra forum.............I haven't had any problems until I came here to the Yanmar forum.......Some are so full of pride..........I have come to figure out that the Yanmar forum is a good place to go for information, as long as your tractor didn't come from Vietnam................Just look where it all started..........in my thread titled " Proud owner of new Yanmar" and look at what kenmac said...........I didn't do ANYthing wrong. Just posted how proud I was.....Then the bottom fell out when I had my little overheating problem.

You are so true. Have a pristine condition 8N had to abandon it before Katrina come busting through, went back to use it to clear debris and it won't start. Battery, starter good and unhooked before left. Drained tank.
ANOTHER electrical problem with my front engine mount distributor. (1952 8N with 1949 engine) --- Just cannot seem to get rid of replacing coils, cleaning distributor and points and rest.....just a @##$@$@#$ on-going issue especially on the non-side mount earlier engine models.

So, in lieu of spending the $$$$$$ fixing the under-performing and bogging down (rebuilt engine 110 across all 4) 8N, I just got the YM2000, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best!

It looks like a great deal was made!!! :D

Anyway, I think I am going to keep my Mahindra anyhow......Its just a trouble free tractor.......I am going to sell my Yanmar because again, I cant justify having 2 tractors..........I'll make more money with the Mahindra........But I DO like my Yanmar.

Have a good day,
Travis

Then today.

Gizmo36,

I want to call and talk to them........I wonder if they have any bigger Yanmars is stock???...Something in the YM3000 or YM3110 range?

Thanks,

Travis R

That is more than mixed feelings. You need to decide what you need. These are just whims. Are you just wanting to post and be included in conversation?
