"what's up with the weeds grown around the wheel base? if it was mechnically sound, wouldn't it move? ( to remove the weed base )? Maybe it was a yard sale item and never move, henceforth ebay... "

Look a little closer. The weeds on the left side have all been mowed, but not the right. He apparently quit mowing to take the picture.

well, he wasn't mowing with that tractor, there's no mower attached! On second thought, i wouldn't want that tractor... I can feel the headaches! Now, that turf porter, that's another story ;)

Well, I have an update. I got the ole' greenie out and BH'ing with my 5' Howse unit yesterday. It was a fun time until I get swamped in a muddy area and my front tires sunk in. Tried to get in reverse, couldn't raise the BH high enough to clear it and couldn't get out. Went to go find some chains and mope around about how it got stuck in the first 5 minutes! Then I remember, heck this is a rice paddy tractor! I threw it into Low gear and crept right into, across and out of the mud with no problem. Now, I know I couldn't have done that with the ole 8N! Amazing!

Questions:
1. Getting a good deal of black smoke puffing from the exhaust during heavy load with BH in 3'+ grass. Sometimes to the point of having to keep raising or engaging clutch to take load off of the engine to keep from dying. Is the smoke and the load common for the job? (5' bushhog as mentioned)

2. How do I remove the sway chains to tighten up the turnbuckles to keep the implement from banging the **** out of the paddle tires each time I turn?

3. How are the replacement seats from Hoye or others for the YM2000s?

Overall, I was pretty pleased, just seemed a little light for the task at hand, but I guess that is just the size of the tractor and all. For the $, I cannot be too picky.

Thanks,
saintroad

1. I think a 5' cutter might be a bit too much for a YM2000

2. If the sway chains are like my YM1700 you just take the slack out by tightening the turnbuckles.

3. I bought one of the replacement seats from Hoye and I love it. It is a huge improvement over the pan seat.

Bob

Really?
I thought a 5' would be OK with my tractor. I know that I asked this question dozens of times, but I guess I could have been mistaken. Well, at this point, I don't have alot of options, as I am not getting a 4', so I guess I will have to cut more often & raise the deck slightly to keep it from bogging down so much under load.

Anyone else use a 5' BH with their YM2000?
Inquiring minds want to know! :D

Thanks!

A 5' rotary cutter is too big for a YM2000, but since that's what you have, keeping the front slightly lower, (approx. 1"), than the rear will help.

I'm sure there are plenty of people using a 5' rotary cutter with a 2000. That doesn't make it a good idea. That is way too much cutter for continuous use on a 2000. There will be a cost somewhere. IMO you would be money ahead in the long run, though obviously not in the short run, to sell the 5' and buy a 4'.

whats the engine and PTO hp of the YM 2000? by the way, nice looking tractor. YM puts some serious tires on the rear, dont they?! man those things grip, i bet!

Could you just drop down a ratio so it's not moving as quickly? At least till you get the first cut done and lighten the load?
