Sitting in the cab with your seatbelt on I'd drop it into low 4 wd and let it drive away from the hole , short of that call a major salvage company and pay the price , Always walk any new field before putting your equipment and life at risk ! and this is the reason why ! Hope it all works for the best . I hope the insurance is up to date !

That sucks for sure. Hope you get it out with little to no damage.

Now, personally i had an attorney draw up and in-depth contract i have people sign BEFORE i mow, do dirt work or any tractor work on their land. It covers things like sink holes, gas, water and elec lines or any other unforseen obstacle or situation i may encounter WHILE on their land. They sign it before i even unload the tractor. I damage my tractor/equipment on THEIR land its on their dime, i get hurt while on their land, its on their dime, I just aint taking chances with people nowdays, I cant tell you how many times ive been told "yeah that field is clear" only to have batteries, rocks or any other kind of crap thrown in the weeds.

GOM,

We all wonder why you you feel the need to verbally belittle, harass and terrorize others. We are all sorry that you have problems at home or with the way you feel about yourself. Maybe your mother didn't love you enough. Maybe you thought you would do more with your life. I don't know. But stop taking your problems out on others.

do you have a 4x4 pickup that could get close enough to use a couple of chains ? someone in the truck pulling and careful on the tractor might be all you need. im thinking the quicker , the better . the weight of the tractor sitting over the sink hole CANT be good ! Good Luck Friend !

That or he could be sitting at the bottom of the hole with a broken leg after he fell into the hole.

Guys and Gals,
Trucks won't even get to where I'm stuck because to get there you go down a knee high bank and through clay mud. It won't be too bad though once my buddy show up with his tractor. It's only a couple of miles away, much easier than me hauling one 20 miles up and back. I'll post more pics when I get it out if the thread isn't closed down by then.

a technique that has worked for me in the past with fields I dont know is just cutting with 1 wing ( sure you only cutting 5 feet at a time ) but you have a better look at the weeds 5 feet to you side before the cutter get to it and the tractors on cut ground. Just my .02

I still wouldn't have seen this hole. It is very well concealed by the weeds, even with the mower half way in it.

Good luck getting unstuck. I wish you the best - keep us posted.

Sorry your thread got pruned after I dropped the T Bomb on GOM. Not right by the M's to do so, but neither was GOM's negativity rant. If its any consolation I know of two other threads that were pruned at the same time for the same reason.

.

Thanks Brother, I will. We were going up there about 6:30pm today but it was raining so hard traffic was running 45mph in a 70 so we figured we'd wait. I don't need the tractor at the farm for a while so....

GOM, for Pete's sake, all of your posts are argumentative and belittling. Next you'll tell how you could get it out with two toothpicks and a rubber band.

DT, if I were anywhere close to you, I'd help you out in a heartbeat.

DT.. we are all kinda sitting back, hoping to hear that you recovered everything all OK..I don't like the sound of more rain. From the looks of the vegetative growth in that sinkhole, it has been there for quite some time.

Talk about a cliff hanger. Your tractor is sitting OVER a sink hole and it's pouring down rain. Dt, you must have nerves of steel to let it sit another day. I wish you safety and success.

Hey Grumpy, You complaining to the moderators about me? That's funny.

Complaining to the moderators ? Never have and never would !, All I can say is by looking at the pictures posted the tractor looks like it is on hard ground . If it is sitting on a "sink hole " that tunnels under the tractor why would it not be the correct thing to unhitch the mower and move it away from "the danger zone "? and then deal with the stuck mower ?? I'm sure this has happened many times before to someone ? But just leaving it there seems to me to be a bad Idea as everyone has seen how a sink hole widens over time and a 6-7,000 lb tractor could make it happen faster .I'm sorry some may feel my answers are gruff but I'm not going to apologize for giving opinions to what seems to me to be a time sensitive problem , I would definitely love to see the depth and tunneling of this tractor swallowing hole .
