I'm a big Ford fan and love my diesel truck but, there's no way I'd buy a new diesel truck. They all have issues related to emissions and the 6.7 has had some turbo issues. Not a big deal to replace a turbo except that the it's a $1500 part and is a complete pain to get to.
The front seats in the F150 are very uncomfortable for me on a ride of more than an hour but, it's a really nice truck if that isn't a problem for you. These days, if you want a new truck, I'd say a gas motor is the only way to go and the Ecoboost seems to be pretty durable. They're getting some crazy horsepower out of those things with programming changes and mods and the motors seem to be holding up well so a stock motor should last a long time.
If you really want a diesel, I would look for a clean F250/F350 with the 7.3 or an older Dodge with the 24v 5.9 Cummins. The Ford bodies hold up a lot better than the Dodge but, the 7.3 is becoming rarer on the used market. Those of us that have them aren't wanting to let them go. Mine is a 2002 with 285,000 miles on it and it's still running like a champ. It's time to do injectors and I've done normal wear parts (water pump, idler pulley, ball joints, turbo, brakes, etc.) but, haven't been into the engine itself one time in all those miles.
