My Truck Is Talking To Me

If you like the DuraMax you need to go back and try the Ford 6.7 diesel, it's a monster.

The reality is the Superduty Ford is just a heavier built truck than the HD GMs. Like you said it falls right in the middle between the a Ecoboost F150 and a Superduty Ford. For this reason they are popular but have a lot of drawbacks like the front suspension, ground clearance, and GVWR. The positive side is the tame ride.

At the end of the day thought it seems like this may just be the truck that fits your needs.

You really should work at a ford dealership.

Steering him towards a GM would not make me any money. Look at my last sentence.

If you truly don't believe the Fords are not built a little tougher you must be blind. GM doesn't get that tamed down ride by being the toughest. The Fords front suspension is twice as stout and the payback is the ride!

If you are interested in the Chevy or GMC make sure they knock a whole lot off the sticker seeing as how the all new 2017 is just around the corner. If GMC won't do 0% make them knock off an extra $1000. They want to move the 16's trust me and if he thinks you might walk he will come begging you to buy. You have the upper hand here, trust me. New model coming and he needs to move some inventory and soon. Don't let him tell you to order nothing, you'll be fine with black interior just get some nice seat covers.

If it were my dollar I'd be going over to the Ford lot and stealing a 2016 f250 since their new truck is coming out too. I just like the Ford's better than the current GM's but that's just me.

I totally disagree that fords are built tougher. I feel like my '12 f150 is built squarely for the grocery getter market. Not designed to be tough at all.

My suggestion to the OP is carefully analyze your need for a truck to drive 7,000 miles a year.[/QUOTE]

^^This^^ While alot of the newer trucks have nifty features all these new electronic systems are just prone to fail. I prefer late 90s early 2000 models with minimal electronics. Door locks/windows bout all I care about. Cloth not leather, and for hauling, manual transmission is the way to go because cheaper repair costs

I hate threads like this. Somebody's truck is talking to them. I just have to read it already knowing it's going to talk about these new trucks, then start dreaming and drooling about a new truck myself. Now my truck is talking to me. Beware, it's an epidemic.

Surprising how few miles the OP has as others have said. My 2006 F-150 Lariat 4X4 is 8 years newer and has almost 180,000 miles on it now. Have had intermittent misfire issues that make it feel like the tranny is going, but have resolved that with all new coil packs and plugs; have replaced driver window motor. My sunroof is broken, but I have it wedged in place right now. Have replaced a few odds and ends and mostly basic maintenance, but am about to have to replace the 2nd set of front wheel bearings as the wobble is coming back after about 2.5 years since I replaced the originals.

Really nothing major and this thing has been paid off for a very long time, but I also keep getting this thought in my head that I'd like something new (maybe a diesel 2500 GMC or Dodge or F-250). Really can't blame the OP since he's had his same truck now for 18 or maybe even 19 years. I'm on about 11 years and really wanting something new.

I recently bought a used 2011 Chevy 2500 with the 6.0 gas. It had 42,000 miles on it. Kind of the sweet spot in a used vehicle in my opinion. Paid somewhere around 26k for it. I also only drive about 7000 miles a year and this truck probably cost 14k less than it did brand new. It also was Certified Used, which gives you a 1 year bumper to bumper warranty. Its not quite as good in terms of what it covers compared to a brand new truck but close.

That's a dang good deal! Before I bought my f150 I looked at a 2013 Silverado 1/2 ton crew cab z71 with 32000 miles but they wouldn't come down past $34000. It wasn't even a loaded
model, just the LT with leather and no backup camera. I bought a brand new 2016 f150 xlt for $36000.
