One night after a terrible day of bad storms we were all in bed sleeping. About 11:35pm I heard the wind start howling again. It was getting louder and louder, closer and closer... a tornado was coming right at our house! I yanked my wife(5 months pregnant) out of bed by the arm. I dragged her by her wrist on her knees into the hall. Dropping her there, I ran into my 4 year old daughter's room, grabbed her out of her bed and ran back into the hall. I grabbed my wife by the wrist again and took off for the basement, child over my shoulder with one arm, wife sliding along the floor with the other. I had the strength of ten men that night. I'm screaming TORNADO! TORNADO! and she's yelling back, "It's a jet! It's a jet!"....... Huh? A jet?... What?.... uh-oh. You OK? Reply was something like, "You moron!" /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Turns out every night at 11:35 the old Fed-X 727 leaves our airport to the west. I knew that. However, the wind was very strong out of the south that evening, so they used the short south runway right over our house. Rattled all the windows and made the whole house vibrate. I thought I was a goner. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Went to the doctor the next day... all was well with mom and unborn baby. Mom had carpet burns. Dad needed some tranquilizers. Called the FAA and they reported several complaints that night. Baby came out 4 months later just fine no thanks to me, of course /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
