Congratulations on the new GrandDaughter Jerry!

I understand just what everyone is going through with her being premature as My son spent 26 days in Intensive Care as he was 7 1/2 weeks early.

Keep the faith She will do well and be the Apple of Grandpa's Eye. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tom,
The apple of my eye doesn't come anywhere near describing this little girl. I'm not permitted to even touch her as long as she's in the neonatal ICU unit. That hurts.Only the parents are allowed to. But I told her today, as soon she can come home, we're gonna get a pic on a PARKED tractor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congrats on the new baby!!!!

I also know all about the NICU units and how hard it can be. Our first child caught a bug the day after she was born and spent 10 days in the NICU unit. The hardest thing we ever did was to go home and leave our little baby girl behind to get well. But we made it and she will be 2 this April. Congrats again and make sure you hold here tight when you finally get a hold of her.

Update..........Emilee is still in ICU. BUT no more UV lamps, no more incubator in a regular crib, holding her body temp and Oxygen concentration, Fat emulsion IV still going to help gain weight, eating 12cc's of breast milk at a time now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
They'll increase her milk at 1cc at each feeding until she can't hold any more /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
In my mind this little girl will be home in a week or two.......at least I hope

UPDATE........
For anyone follwing

Emilee has now decided to reject the bottle and has had to have a feeding tube inserted. This really has hurt my son and his wife. She is almost back up to her birth weight, which is expected. We had hoped she'd be home by this weekend, but it doesn't look good for that right now. They warned everyone this may happen, we just didn't want to see it come true. We haven't been to see her since Sunday, they said she needs rest most of all right now. They even asked the Mom and Dad to NOT spend time there today /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif .
I just wanna hold my little Grandaughter right now /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sorry to hear it's not going as well (or as fast) as hoped for, but sounds like progress is being made. I know how hard it must be for all the family. Patience is not one of my long suits, either.

Sorry to hear that Emilee isn't progressing as hoped, but the good thing is time is her best friend right now. As time goes by the stronger she gets, she'll be home and in your arms before you know. We wish you the best and we're all pulling for her.....keep us up to date.

Jerry,

You know that everyone here at TBN is keeping Emilee in their thoughts and prayers, so you and she have a lot of good support! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I know EXACTLY how you feel about wanting to hold your grandaughter. My son is driving to Nevada right now, but has stopped here for a couple of days to take care of some personal business and check in with "The Folks". He showed us the video of Teagan (our new grandaughter) being taken care of just after having been born, and then some video of her christening last Saturday. When I saw that little girl just minutes after being born, I realized how badly I wanted to hold her too. At least I know that will happen on March 9th, but it sure doesn't make the waiting any easier.

Hang in there, Jerry. Just remember that the first time that you do get to hold her will be all that more special. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Update......

Emille Nicole comes home tomorrow /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
She had a few days when nursing just exhausted her and she refused her bottle, so they put the feeding tube in, took it out, put it in.... They had to use an IV also for the days she wasn't nursing so well.
Seems she is doing so well now, although still a "lightweight", that she gets released tomorrow to come home.
Grandpa got all caught up and bought this for her... NH Pedal Tractor I know she can't ride it for a few years but /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif she HAS to have a blue tractor
