I remember the Earl Scheib el cheapo paint job places. I seem to remember a $300 figure, maybe in the late 80's/early 90's. Paint your whole car for $300 - What a deal!?! But, as said, you had to do all the prep work. I never tried them out myself.

Apparently they closed up just last year:

Looks good!

Have you considered attaching a limiting cable/device so as not to overstress the cylinder when fully extended?

What happened to the paint or did I miss something?

I don't think there will be a problem with over dumping the trailer. The cylnder is at its limit at about 48*, if it were closer to 90* there could be a problem but it's not even close to 90*

This video was taken well before I took it to paint. It's just taken me this long to get my Youtube account figured out!! :confused2:
By the way the primer should have been shot yesterday so now I am just waiting for the call to come get it!!

I do have more video from earlier in the build if anyone wants to see it I will post it.

This project is nearing completion and I already have the next one lined up, in fact it sits in the shop right now (since the dump is out of there)!
I bought a Howse 4' brush hog for $125.00 and need to make it fit my HF quick hitch. I think I can get that done while I wait for the dump.

Very impressive job, you should be proud. Did you figure out what the total cost was? You said in one post that you pay .15 cents a pound for steel? I'm in Rockland county NY (45 min north of NYC) and I just purchased a 1' x 1' x 1/4" piece of steel from a local fabricator. He charged me $21.50. I would guess the total weight was no more then 10 or 12 lbs. I love working with steel, but at these prices, who can afford to? Am I missing something, or am I just looking in the wrong places?

By the way, what color are you going to paint the trailer. Kubota orange would nice. Maybe a bit bright, what about Kubota gray? Well whatever you decide, I'm sure its going to look great. Enjoy it.

Carl, I have not figured out the total price yet. I kind of lost track of everything I bought so far but will try to figure it out soon.

I get a lot of my steel from the shop where I work and they only charge us .15 a lb.!!! I admit that is a very good price, and just a few years ago it was like .05 a lb. but guys were buying it and taking it to the scrap recycler down the road and selling it for more!!! Some guys just like to ruin it for everybody! I also get steel from a shop/ steel yard where I worked for a while and the girls in the office :D "like" me LOL  so they give me a good price too!
1'x1'x1/8" weighs 5 lbs, so yours weighs 10 lbs. also most shops will charge a shear or cut fee so you need to figure that into the cost. When I go back to the shop where I used to work I just buy drops or left-overs if possible, I usualy buy more than I need for what I am building and then have a start on the next project. My sugjestion to you would be to make a "friend" in a steel shop!!!

I will be painting it Kubota orange  from TSC. It is not an exact match but will be good enough. Was thinking of doing the frame Kubota gray but I am not sure yet. What does everybody else think??

Since you're going Kubota orange anyway, I vote you include some Kubota gray accents for the full treatment.

X2

I think a few colors makes a job look a lot more professional.
