My Weekend Tow Story

Well, hopefully I don't run into anyone like you on my motorcycle. Two wrongs don't make a right.
That true. However sometimes as distasteful as it is you gotta do what ever is necessary to solve a problem.

Few years back I was driving from Marble Bar (the hottest town in Australia) to Port Hedland at night. There was very little traffic but I caught up with a road train on winding section of the road. He was moving pretty fast so I stayed couple hundred yards behind him and left my long beams on thinking I was far enough to do so. When the road straightened up and I passed him he immediately turn on some strong lights that threatened to burn my eyes out. I guess he was annoyed by my long beams after all. I sped up to way over speed limit but he kept on my tail with the lights on for quite few kilometers before he gave up the chase.

My eyes are pretty sensitive to lights like that: I probably would have done like the trucker.
I like the long lights name - always called them brights here.

Wouldn't it have been easier to simply move the mirrors slightly until the guy passes you?

my truck had a motor mirror on the pass side. the mirrors on the drivers side where fixed. you had to get out and loosen them with a couple of 9/16 wrenches to adjust them. and the spot mirror catches the light no matter how it adjusted.

Had an issue this past weekend. I was coming home from our campground, since I was still fighting a bad cold. The road is winding and narrow along a small lake, with very narrow shoulders. I was in my truck, which was a good thing since another full size truck came towards me. Neither of us was towing, and that is a good thing.

He came around a curve and dimmed his high beams then immediately turned them back on. I had trouble seeing wher the road was, but moved over on the narrow road. He didn't move over or slow down. If I moved over any farther I would have been in the water. I was sure our mirrors would hit, he was that close.

I have compassion for those who tailgate, drive with their long lights on and fail to signal. It must be very painful for them to live their lives in such a rush and without regard for others.

I didn't say they weren't idiots. But it doesn't give anyone the right to throw a handful of BB's out the window, turn off their brake lights and then hit the brakes, etc... it's just plain stupid behavior.
