My "why I carry a firearm " rant

My neighbor in Baton Rouge parish was alerted to dogs attacking his pygmy goats by his helper. As he was going out the back door, he grabbed his Glock stored just over the door. As he exited the door, one of the dogs went for him. He emptied the Glock into the dog as it leaped for him.

The dogs' owners wanted to sue him. The dogs killed his goats and tried to kill him but for the Glock.

Why I choose to carry a firearm.

I know lots of people will tell me the odds are better at winning the Powerball, than actually needing the gun that I carry and that I am crazy.

There have been two times in my life when being armed saved me from being beaten or robbed/stabbed. Neither time was a shot fired, merely being armed shut both down.

I don't know anyone that has won more than a few bucks at lotteries, much less winning the powerball twice. I'll continue to carry.

I carry also . About 7-8 years ago I had to pull it out and it was a game changer, nobody died and nobody got assaulted / robbed . I guess he changed his mind.

Never thought I would have to use mine. Not all threats come on two legs. Neighbor attacked by pit bulls Its been almost three
years since this happened but I remember it like it was yesterday. Neighbor has recovered but still suffers from the incident.

I sat my wife down and made her read your story about the dog attack. I carry concealed when out in society, and on my hip, when on our farm. She has a .380 that I have been insisting that she carry on the farm. We have bear, and coyote. And dogs are coming thru the property all the time, and sometimes the owners of the dogs come thru looking for them. I carry a firearm for when kind words fail. There is no cell service, and when you are out working int he orchard, you are a long way from help if things go bad.

CPL is great, I think everyone (who is legally allowed) should carry. Just don't be one of those "Open Carry" morons who like to display their firearms. No one should have weapons displayed besides Police and Military. No one in the public needs to see you displaying your gun... Only causes people to feel uneasy and on-edge, counter productive. I think it should be legal and encouraged to go up to those idiots, take their gun away, dismantle it, throw it away, and beat some sense into those mental midgets.

This would be great, but sadly, the Sheep of today's world don't want any guns in our schools, even from teachers, and many schools have policies against a Teacher carrying because of this mindset. And my Wife is a CPL holding Teacher who can't carry at her school, so I know the frustrations.
