Gosh dang Frank, go big or go home... I guess most of us are going home.:D

Those are some nice machines you've got there. When you get the shop all lined out with everything there won't be much you can't do.

Two members here on TBN that I consider "shop tool" experts.

Frank owns the title for large tools/machines.

BigBarn (Terry) owns the title for smaller tools/machines.

I consider both of these guys highly experienced and knowledgeable concerning shops and what well equipped shops have the capability of doing.

I hadn’t checked in on this thread for a little while and I just got caught up. HOLY CRAP, Frank!

If you were closer I would offer my services to help clear, move whatever! What a FUN site and collection of gear!

Thanks guys How about as couple of transmission jacks one is Identical and possibly may even be the one my dad bought new in 1965 that I changed my first transmission with in 68. I never knew what happened to all of his tools as I left home in 70 then joined the Army in 71 I found the Blackhawk transmission jack in a pawn shop near the town where I grew up and bought it sometime around 1986. Like I said it is identical to the one Pop had except someone had welded a plate on it.
I couple of weeks ago I rebuilt the bottle jack so I could use it to re install a Dodge pickup transmission I had overhauled.
I had removed the transmission with the jack I had made for pulling truck transmissions but it was way too large to manuver under a wimpy little 3/4 ton pickup
here is the one I made 3 years ago then the Blackhawk one will raise 4000lbs the other 750 lbs

I have a product that works 100 times better than LPS3
What I use to remove rust is KBS rust blast. I spray in on to wet the surface then reapply as many times as needed keeping the surface moist for large flat surfaces that only have a coating of surface rust and not deeply pitted I will spray it on then cover with shrink wrap after it is back to bare metal I Use KBS cavity coater this stuff is the exact same formulation of the stuff the Navy uses in cavities on aircraft that are impossible to otherwise treat for corrosion prevention it is a wax based product you can buff shine with it using the red or green industrial scotch brite pads as you mentioned once the natural bare iron color is back the surface will stay this way for months or even years just spray a thin film on and forget about it.
But you are correct about the LPS3 being a great product I used to use it by the gallons to protect wire ropes which were exposed to rain and snow on machinery and to protect against corrosion on machined parts which were not to be plated.
Currently I have an old Lathe stored on a trailer covered with a tarp coated with the Cavity coater the lathe is too large to remove from the trailer until I eventually pour the slab because I don't want to have to hire a crane more than one time. the lathe weighs 26,000 lbs. is 23 feet long and has a 56 inch swing over the ways 12 feet between the centers and has a 25 Hp motor it is about 10 feet tall and 5 feet wide
Frank,
Those are some huge pieces of machinery. LPS seems to used by all aviation shops. That is why I use it. I will have to try KBS rust blast.

So after getting the surface polished rust free, just spray it on and cover it with shrink wrap? I got a 20 inch planer with in and out tables. All that metal (over 5 feet long) begs for something like KBS, then shrink wrap, until I use it again. Right now I just hose it down with LPS3 after I am done and reinstalled the original wax paper on the surfaces.
Thanks.
hugs, Brandi

I didn't fully explain the usage of the KBS Rust blast the product contains the highest percentage of phosphoric acid allowed by law. plus a formulation of other components what this does is the rust blast eats the rust or in the case of steel or iron, the iron oxide there is also a low content of zinc in the solution as the rust blast dissolves the rust it leaves the bare metal alone. yeah it sounds like wizardry I know there are other products on the market that use phosphoric acid in combination with other chemicals to convert the rust into a hard scale like surface such as OSPHO.
However none function quite the same as the rust blast, which is primarily used as a treatment to prepare things for painting the zinc becomes a very thin layer of zinc oxide and will is left on the parts aid in preventing them from rusting again for a very long time. You can leave this layer on or buff it off before painting. If you look at the pictures of the transmission jack I made the first one looks like there is a chalky substance on the steel this is the left over result of the rust blast then I painted it with KBS rust seal paint a direct to metal coating that has an 85% UV stabilization if my jack was going to be left out in the sunshine for months or years I would apply 2 coats of KBS top coat over it.
The cavity coater I mentioned is the wax like substance similar to the LPS3 it is a micro coating substance there are body shops in the north east that use it by drilling 1/8" holes in areas of vehicles that have hidden cavities which never receive any form of coating from the factory they will direct a small tube like wand inside these and spray the coater in them this helps to prevent rust from beginning on the inside due to the trapped moisture and the salt spray used on their roads .
Message me and I will provide yo with a link to my friend who is the largest distributor of the KBS products

How wide will your slip roller roll?
hugs, Brandi

I can roll 53 inches wide down as small as 5 inches in diameter up to 3/16" thick of mild steel but I need to add more reduction gearing to the hydraulic motor because without over pressuring the adjustment on the relief valve to 4500 PSI the motor stalls out on the thicker material at full width. I rolled 3 40" long air tanks out of 10 ga to 8" with no problems but it runs a little fast when trying to work it by myself

Does the roller start and stop with a foot switch? Dang Frank, powered and geared, that thing must be a beast. Our work manual roller would only do 1/8th inch. I never tried to max out the power roller.
