I spend more time spreading and driving back and forth over each thin layer of fill I put down than actually moving of material

]
Moving dirt, spreading, and packing and repeating and repeating and repeating is very monotonous. Just like enlarging a pond and moving the dam. Lots of dirt to move and spread and pack. Especially in this heat.
At least moving puts some airflow around you.

I guess you have time since you likely aren't bussing kids around lately! :laughing:

I have a 20 ft container inbound which will arrive either Sunday or Monday. which was requested to be loaded on the rear of the trailer but managed to be loaded in front of another load So not I have to figure out how I am going to off load the thing without a forklift large enough to pick it up. and off load it from the side.

How about pivoting in sideways on the trailer and inch it off enough to block the end of the container by the trailer, then turn the truck enough times to get the trailer clear?

You don't have any forks for your backhoe's bucket? My Mahindra can lift one end of a 20 foot container. Skid steer attach forks are the bomb.

Skid steers with forks are a bomb alright. A bomb waiting to happen that is. I had a guy with a skid steer about the same size as the one I have drop a 2500 lb pallet of ceramic tile by standing the skid steer on its nose one time He was unloading it from the upper deck of our step deck trailer when it happened. I told him the pallet was too heavy but he could lift it with no problem it was only when he lowered it when the problem occurred. What he should have done was to let the pallet rub against the side of the trailer while lowering it but he just backed up and started to let it down once he was at the critical point he found his self looking straight down.
I can carry an empty 20 ft container with my backhoe, but the one coming in is packed floor to ceiling front to back and probably has upwards of 15k of stuff packed in it.
You are correct about pulling it off side ways by turning it and cribbing up under one end And I have enough 6x6 by 4 ft blocks to block up a house. A lot is going to depend on the attitude of the driver when he arrives

Frank,
I meant skid steer attachment for loaders. Quick change from bucket to forks. hehehe.

Oh, I thought the container was empty. Can you unload and reload the load behind the container?

My guy arrived around 9:30 the driver hauling the container got here at z10:00 by 10.30 the driver was on his way He had to wait about 10 minutes after we got the container off his trailer to complete his 30 minute break. by 10:45 the container was on the ground in place with in a couple of inches of where I had planned on putting it.
The driver never touched a thing My guy moved the tractor back out of the way while I used my toe jack to lift the container and place our sliding shoes under it Then Bob backed his trailer up to the side of th driver's trailer we winched the container off sideways onto Bob's trailer while I had the driver back up as the container turned.
The driver asked Bob how many hundreds or thousands of times had we done this before, he said it takes the companies with the big forklifts or cranes longer to unload then we took. the new uploader reversed the order of the pictures

The second trailer is half mine My friend who owns the truck that pulls it is currently on a day contract at a town nearby where they are building a huge solar farm. Well I call it huge because the 1st phase of it is around 3,500 acres he is 3 weeks into a 90 day contract I just got lucky that the work day was called due to mud because of a storm Sat night he showed up at the job sight and within the first 10 minutes 3 of the 10 trucks had already had to be pulled by a dozer. Glad they called the day because I do all of the maintenance on his truck and our 5 trailers I would not have been a happy camper to find the truck had been dozered around a job site all day. SO everyone got a paid day off and since we have had 2 inches of rain here tonight if it rained the 45 miles from here like it has at my house they will have another mud day tomorrow. Just as long as they don't call off the day before show up time tomorrow. If they call off tomorrow I'm hoping he will be able to go to ft worth and haul my 10 ft ancient Niagara shear and possibly my 10,000 Austin Western Crane for me or bring me his 2500 ford tractor so I can repair the brush hog
