I bought the std dust covers for my 6415. I used a rubber malle to tap them on, so you should be able to tap them off from behind, they are just a tight fit.

What width are your front tires at? I set the fronts on the 6415 to position 8, 71.3" since JD says 71" is the maximum settting for a loader.

The rears are set so the they are the same overall width as the fronts. Position 5, 67.2" (IIRC) I could go 8" wider at position 9, but felt with liquid ballast I would be OK. If I were to have stability issues I would go wider. But hope not, loaded tires will be hard to reconfigure. I think I am a touch over 7' overall. I plan to upgrade the brush hog to either a 7' or 8'

My joystick is completely different than yours, it's inside the side console, not external as yours.

Have you found the horn wires you need yet?

Must be nice to work on a clean machine. You would not believe the dirt/dust I found when I pulled the side panel to the right fender mounted console.

I want guards for my fuel tank. I may have to fab some.

Will an offset ratcheting screw driver work for the joystick cover screws?

Thanks. I'll try a wood block and a mallet to pop them off then.

Outside edge to outside edge is 79" with those 13.6R24s. This is already wider than my bucket which is 73", so I plan to leave the fronts alone.

Not yet, but the dealer just emailed me a pdf of the horn harness, so hopefully I'll be able to track those wires down tonight.

I hear you, when I took the instrument panel apart on my 4700 after 12 years, it was amazing what it looked like behind the cowl cover.

Stopped by the dealer to pick up my Operator's Manual (they forgot to put it back in the pouch on the back of the seat when I picked it up). I discussed the issue with having a hard time removing the right side cover. They printed out the page from the service manual that explains how to do it. The trick is to loosen the 3 bolts that hold the joystick bracket assemply and slide it away from the cover. So I'll play with that this evening.

I was also curious about this switch on the center console (red arrow).

It is a momentary switch and all the manual says about it is that it is the "Roll Mode Switch". Any idea what it is for?

There is also an exhaust filter cleaning mode switch on the right side of the center cowl. Apparently, every so often, a little bit of diesel is pumped into the exhaust to burn off any sod builtup. It normally happens automatically during operating, but can be disabled if the tractor is used in a situation not suited for the higher temperatures created during exhaust filter cleaning. The system will force a parked mode cleaning if left in the disabled mode too long. This will result in the operator hearing 5 consecutive tones, and then the idle is elevated to 1800 rpm and the cleaning process commenses. The parked mode cleaning takes about 30 - 45 minutes during which time the information display will show the progress in percentage from 1 - 100%.

After doing a bit of googling, I think the roll mode switch is to toggle the digital display between:

Ground speed
Engine rpm
PTO rpm
Clock/Time
Hour Meter

Once I get the rest of the elctrical work down and hook the battery up, I'll actually be able to use the tractor and verify this.

Yes it for the switching between them and for switching to different units of measure. Once had a problem that you needed the switch with the pto.

Forgot to say the measurement I gave for the front tires was center to center. I have not measured outside to outside, but I think it's a little over 7'.

I too have a 73" bucket. I plan to get an 85" bucket. I was surprised the original owner opted for 73" bucket. I would have gotten the 85" HD bucket.
