What fluid is in your snowblower gearbox and chain case?

The fuel is OTR green, not the farm fuel red, so that eliminates that.

The gearbox on blower is sealed tight and is located in the middle of the blower. The spots show up in the tire tracks, not the center.

Most of it is gone now so don't know if maybe it was some of the paint/paint dust rubbing off the blower and mixing with the snow, as it is is a new Meteor red, or what.

Thanks for the replies.

jj, you can tell us what you finally found out. You are amongest friends here on TBN. Don't feel embarrassed. Something tells me you know. We won't laugh and point at you. We have all done "stupid stuff" before. lol.

When I say that I don't know what it is, I am being serious here. I have been around farms and equipment my whole life growing up here in prime spud country so I do have knowledge on tractors and equipment. I am not too proud to admit a mistake or take advise from anyone. Which is why I asked in the first place. I am not trying to run a wild goose chase here, just trying to find the source of a potential problem. By the way thanks to all who have suggested ideas and sources. If I do get to the bottom of this I WILL let everyone know.

jj,I was just doing a little friendly teasing. I truly hope you find the source of that red stuff as I know I sure want to know where it is coming from.

Good luck.

No hard feelings Dirt, I can take criticism and jokes as well as the next guy. I do however live by the philosophy my dad tought me, "FIX A SIMPLE THING BEFORE IT BECOMES A PROBLEM", or something to that effect. I keep my vehicles, eqipment, snowmobiles, trailers, house, etc. in as top shape as possible at all times. Sometimes a small leak is not that big of deal, but eventually it turns into a major problem and costs more $$ in the long run, (wheel bearing seal--$2.50, 1 yr later--Seal, bearings, potential gear damage, full fluid change in 3rd member, gaskets, etc. ---upwards of $200.00) as an example.
I do appreciate all of the responses and help everyone has given, this site has given me more ideas and knowledge than I ever expected. Thanks again fellas.
Next post is hopefully the step by step rebuild of my 4-horse trailer,(floor, paint, lights, rust control, wiring, etc.) Am currently in the sanding (aka PITA) part of this project. Not a lot of fun showing that is it.
Later fellas.

Vehicles are in the garage when I blow snow, and they don't leak anything.

The diesel is OTR green, not the farm fuel red.

Still stumped, ughhhh!!!!!!

Did you say "farm fuel red"? Are you using farm fuel? Is your exhaust dripping from condensation of exhaust vapor? I think PaulChristenson is on the right track.

You didnt by chance clean the tractor at a car wash with the foam soap from the brush . The new foam soap has three different colors yellow blue and red . When i take my truck to the car wash i always have someone ask me if i am leaking antifreeze . I also thought of what they use at the factory for assembly lube for the engine. If it is automatic transmission fluid color that could be it .

Since we ruled out missing domestic animals and all known tractor juices. It 's time to take a look at Jerrami's neighbor's. It is obvious that Jerrami cares a lot for his equipment and what could be more fun that watching a obsessive neighbor crawling around in snow drifts chasing fluid drops from the comfort of your kitchen table. :) Take a look at your neighbor next time the red spots appear and see if they are not drinking coffee and standing by the kitchen window. If yes, it time to check their back porch and garage for the open can of ATF. As they say revenge is a meal best served up cold. :D

Yea, we used to drive our job mechanic crazy by throwing a huge CAT bolt on the haul road for him to find. It would drive him absolutely nuts looking at all the machines on the job trying to find where that bolt went. It was always good for a few hours of good clean fun. Of course after he figured out what we had done, it was his turn for a little retaliation.

Sincerely, Dirt
