I took my test in the 1983 Suburban that's in the background. I'm the kid in the middle, riding a Honda 200s 3 wheeler. My brother and sister had 185 Kawasaki's, and they were faster than mine. :(

The test driver asked me to go to a liquor store. Which I did. He bought a six pack, and drank it during the test and offered me one. Which I took being under aged and drank, during the test. I passed with a perfect score. Sometimes things are just too weird to make up. Never told my mom about it.

1966 Olds Delta 88. When it was time for the emergency stop portion of the test I nearly launched the examiner (who was a highway patrol officer)) through the windshield. He was not impressed.

I had done reasonably well through the exam but with a few mistakes. We took the exam on a designated course and when I was finishing and pulled back to the station I thought I would take the officer as close as I could to the front door and parked. As it turned out I was parking on a crosswalk which cost me a 8 point deduction. I failed the test by 2 points. Oh well, the wisdom of a 16 year old.

I had to wait another month for a retake. I didn't park in the crosswalk and I passed.

I took mine in my Mom's 1968 Plymouth Satellite the hood looked like a football field, it was forest green metallic. During the parallel parking I came so close to the car in front of us the state trooper said one of these days you are going to hit that car and he carried me around the block and made me do it again, so I parallel parked twice and I did get my license. Since I had my motorcycle license at 14 I didn't have to take the written test again, I got my learners permit at 15 and would drive every time I could so I had plenty of practice.

By the time I was 15, I had bought my own car, a '51 Olds 4-door.
I was 14 and starting High School. My first car was a '51 Chevy. It was a hand-me-down from my brother. I paid him $50 for it since he was going off to college and didn't want to take it. I remember spending about $5 a week for gas going back and forth to school. My buddies would pitch in for gas on the weekends for football games or outdoor theatres. I was typically the chauffeur since I was the only one with a car in my "circle".

I took my test in my first car, A 73 Cadillac Eldorado. My friends called it the enterprise.

The state highway officer told me to have my dad pull up the car. My dad was taking a motorcycle endorsement test and could not leave the area. The officer yelled at me to go get the damn car!
Everyone heads turned to see what was going on. I turned beet red.
So I get the car and did the test thinking no way was he going to pass me.
Well I passed and the lady at the counter told me the guy was known for flunking people and all the counter people figured I flunked. I was very surprised.!!

1983 volvo wagon stick shift. I failed the first test due to a rolling stop at a stop sign before we even left the parking lot. Passed the second time. 2 weeks later pulled over for speeding on the highway and lost my license for 3 months. Do you know how hard it is to speed in a 1983 volvo wagon?

I got the use of my folks VW bus with a stick. My friend had the use of his folks VW bus with an automatic. We'd pull up side by side at a light and drag race them..... no one noticed. 🤣

The automatic was quicker off the line but the stick had higher top end. And we still held up traffic behind us.
