NASCAR Race to the Chase

Boy, I thought I was the only one who didn't know.

He owns a bunch of race cars. Dale Ernhart (sp?) drove for him. He's getting into wineries (sp?) now, which is becoming a "budding" business in central N.C now.

I have a bunch of "customers" in Wilkesboro, N.C now, home to Junior Johnson (one of the guys who "started" nascar from running moonshine). Getting to know more about nascar, but...hard for me to watch cars go round and round a track.

Will say this though. Have had a couple of business meetings at lowes motor speedway, and I will say that the track is VERY impressive.

Was out there (lowes) while they were testing some engines running the cars around the track, and it is a very impressive as well (I was surprised that I could actually "get into" watching them).

Have an office about 2 miles away from the Bristol speedway, and when I get some of those tickets, they are like gold.

Sig, Sounds like your first idea of NASCAR is a lot like mine as of now. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Somehow, it just doesn't interest me at all. But it sure seems to draw quite a crowd. My FIL used to live close to Michigan International Speedway. On race weekends, you were better off staying home. The place was packed with NASCAR fans for miles around. It's just different strokes is all. It's hard to beleive I know, but there are people who have never seen a kayak or know what a Sig is. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thats what makes NASCAR interesting, kinda like some folks get into WWF.

I liked Kurt from his rookie year. Since Spencer pulled that cheap shot on him, he's really wussed out a bit for my taste. Though he is a really good driver. I thought everyone liked JR. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Thats one reason I never jumped on his bandwaggon(kinda like his father). Jeff, well.... I wont go there, dont care for him or his buddie Jimmy either..

You know, its kinda like a soap opera at times.

I do like the chase, it keeps someone from runnning away with it. If they are good enough to win, they can do it with 10 races just as easy as the whole season. As much as I like to see the Ford domination by Roush, they do need to limit the teams to make it more fair for the other guys that have limited resources. Its sort of a monopoly for the big teams.

Try a 1960's Remington Matchmaster .22 with a Lyman Super Targetspot scope (made by Unertyl sp?) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Shot it when I was eight years old back god knows when, and when my unlce passed away he left it for me.

I have a couple of rifles that I've "built" that have cost me more than a ZTR would, and that dang .22 is still my favorite /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Your right, different strokes for different folks, or whatever floats your boat.

So what do you think about the race to the chase and how are your boys doing?

GAFarmer2,

As a LONG time(35 years +) NASCAR fan I have to tell you… This will be my last session. I am happy to see Rusty and Mark in the “chase”. Also have to admi,t it is good to see Jeff and Jr. out! But I think the “chase” is not what NASCAR is / was about. In the last few years NASCAR has become a cross between WWF and Roller Derby. It is no longer about racing the race.

Just my opinion,

Gary

I have to agree. First race I ever attended in person was Daytona in 1970. Those were the days of real racing. It's all about money now and gets more and more about it every year.

NASCAR has already said that they may rethink the number of drivers that get into the chase next year, upping the number to 12. Any thoughts on why they might do that? I have a few. Read the story here: JAYSKI

I've tried to watch this year, and have access to free tickets to the Kansas race in a few weeks, but won't use them this year. It's just not there for me anymore.

Beagdog,

Well. either you and I are just getting old or we just have a different concept of what auto racing should be? Or maybe a little of both? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Old and more cynical both in my case.

I'll have to agree,I lost interest in Nascar when they quit using real cars,if you know what I mean? I think the tv coverage and the money has killed a real sport.

Don't worry, nothings going to be alrite.

I would like to see more realistic cars too. They have gotten too far from the products you could buy. Too much money involved..
