slowrev,
Congratulations, SOMEone is starting to see the problem. We are starting to be guilty and must prove our innocence. Are we as a society becoming just "rats in a maze" for those in power to collect data and do what they please with it.

Perhaps you haven't flown with a commercial airline lately.
Yes, I have flown recently.

Having me remove my shoes to search them, jeez, come on.
I don't see this as my freedom dwindling ever so slowly. I see it as something that's necessary to ensure my safety while I am flying.

If I post to this thread will it die a natural death????? It is too complicated for me to even want to follow. Why not just install a computer chip into each of us like they have for dogs and cats to reunite them with their owners should they get lost? That way, when you go to the airport, they can just read your computer chip and know all about you. If you get lost in flight, they can send you home without delay.... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

And when your luggage goes around the turnstille and reaches you it will correspond with your implanted chip and chime in with your personal ring tone /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Junkman, I couldn't resist anymore either, so it's probably doomed now! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mike, in regards to this thread's title, I mostly agree with your take. Personally, I do consider it another DC "sign" I don't like, but don't see DC capable of anything scarier than what hackers can do with all the "private" information already available.

Our “freedom” is dwindling down every so slowly. Examples?

Asking for examples: awesome [I wish the exact post was made in other threads]...but in this case it's like putting a political can of worms on the kitchen counter with a can opener sitting on top waiting for me stumble on it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Maybe I'll keep it pertinant as [though I ussually vote one way] I don't see any party less ignorant than another and I can keep it tractor related:

Another thread is currently discussing a decision that traded individual rights to states' rights; usually putting states over federal is a good sign...but when you trade personal freedoms?

Consider the threads about people wanting to use their tractor to improve their property, but can't because of taxes or this or that regulation.

Airlines just came up.....criminals will find weapons; I'd rather have my pocket knife [which always traveled with me prior 9-11 and recently accidently passed a security check while my wife was hassled over a shoe lace] and know I'd have a fair chance [prior 9-11 it traveled with me because the pocket was it's home] than be scrutinized. IMHO 9-11 wouldn't have been the same if a few "country boys" would have been on each plane.

Next year fireworks regulations tighten for "homeland security". Not a big deal per se, but fireworks do elude to my pursuit of happiness....

18 years old can vote on any issue, but not sample a product that works very well in my car too.

Gun issues....well, again criminals will find a way!

Anyway...(as was wisely said here before):

Take some of your TBN time and write your representatives..federal, state, local....all of them! Maybe common sense will prevail...I'm not convinced, but if we don't all try then we're just as guilty. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I agree and again, the homeland security is a total waste of funds. When you have some person working at the airport making $8 to $10 and got a basic “crash course” in security, now the guy is an export????

A few $10 jobs are not going to stop anyone here. It is sad, but the truth. It is to make the public feel good. My father does not even go through the metal detectors (pace maker) at airports and they drives the security nuts! If he can get a letter, so can anyone.

BINGO! You hit the nail right on the head.

I can't even get Heart Guard for my Dogs shipped via USPS since Homeland Security took it and shipped me a letter! Give me a break. They stop pills for my dog, but not illegal people in the USA!

I can’t add to my yard since I need to get this permit and that permit when “joe blow” down the road does not. We can bear Arms but we must follow these rules and adhere to these laws. Only a few other countries have laws like this. We can drive cars etc but only if you pass this test and pay this price. When some bank person asks me for a ID when I take $5 out of the bank, is flat out nuts (thank to the patriot act) ! But 20 seconds before I just put in $1,800 dollars!

There are many more and again, as I posted on 7-1-2005 “Our “freedom” is dwindling down every so slowly.”

Now with this ID card, they want my religion, my work etc? It is none of there business here which god I select and where I work.

There is a fine line here of having a big brother and so far it is very very close to crossing it.

( I think the whole idea is ludicrous myself. There are already enough laws that if ENFORCED would handle the illegal immigrant/terrorist situation without the loss of privacy of the NON-infringing US citizens.

Both sides are to blame, Liberals tries to make everything into shades of grey and be sympathetic/compassionate to the illegal immigrants. The conservatives who are handmaids of business leave them alone because they have the belief that they perform a role here.

If they are ILLEGAL, get them gone. Don't let them function in society. If they aren't either US citizens or are here on legal papers of some sort, then enforce the CURRENT laws by doing the following: 1) don't let them buy or rent a living space, 2) don't let them have a drivers license, 3) no handout money from the government , 4) don't let them get bank loans, 5) hold companies accountable who hire them illegally, 6) be only compassionate enough to stop them from dying if they are in an accident, but no more free health care than that and send them back to their own country.

Bottom line.. if you are here illegally.. the best that you SHOULD be able to do is live as a homeless person on the streets. )

Now you get an A-plus for your efforts!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Very well put. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You would be surprised how close a "black helicopter" could get to your house and you wouldn't even know it /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif (talk about skill, when you see one of those machines go under a 50' bridge and go up a river basin AT tree level, well...)

Just my 2 cents in between mowing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway you cut it, we live in the best country in the world. We have so many freedoms that we take for granted everyday and think nothing of it.

Now, if you want to talk about Waco and Ruby Ridge, that's a whole other subject /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

And least we forget, no matter what your opinoin is on todays politics, there are men figthing and giving their lives so we can sit and "converse" our ideas on the computer.

We should just all agree to disagree /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif, stick to tractors /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif and such and close this thread.

Muhammed is wise not to encourage political posting.
