National Weather Service

What I miss is they had a map showing estimated rainfalls in the last 24 hours based on radar returns. This was usually pretty accurate. I can’t find that screen anymore and got tired of looking.

I'm not crazy over their new site but I'm trying to get used to it. The free Weather Channel app on my phone gives me a picture much like the old NWS picture.

I like the forecast discussion on the national weather service page, the new radar has way more features and complexity than I need. Weather underground has a nice granularity because of the data from individual weather stations. The name has some weird history, but I'm trying to laugh with it. Not a fan of the weather channel.

I've been complaining to them about the radar image change ever since they did it. I relied on the animated version that had the county outlines and county/city identification to see when heavy fronts might be coming my way. I filled out the online form to let them know of my displeasure and asked about it on their Facebook page with no indication they give a hoot.

Some IT guy just wanted to justify his existence and mess something up.

Last year we went the the same stuff with our banking interfaces. One of those I couldn't even get into for a couple of months and they swore it wasn't a change on their end. I knew it had to be because nothing changed on mine except I couldn't get in. Then one night it was fixed all of a sudden.

The electric co-op fouled up their interface also but they reverted back in about a month.

I despise me some IT/web designer folks when they just want to change stuff to be changing then mess it up like this has been done.

I always tell people, that we know when to "upgrade" something, is when everybody has really gotten the hang of using it.

I would say most of these weather predictions are now made by AI, not humans. Most NWS offices cover far too much ground for humans to make pinpoint predictions to cover their area. The only thing I use weather.gov for is the 3 day history. Same for weather.com, they are all over the place. I mainly follow the weather web page from our local news station, they seem to be the most accurate (by weatherman standards) than any of the weather sites. They have a nice little write up about what to expect 3 or 4 times a day (written by humans) and a link to the morning and evening weather segment from the news broadcast. Oh yeah, and I really like their radar display.

Not a fan of NWS website... I use this one: Radar

Not even in my area but I can scroll over to my area and be happy with the old radar. Only glitch is that I can not click on the map until I scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, then I can click on the map. I can deal with that...

That one sucked up all my Internet for awhile.
