And, that is why you never had an issue with ring couplers. A person can't sandwich the housing between the heel of of my hands without altering the plastic safety guard.

Although I never saw a need for the coupling to be completely guarded. Common sense would tell anyone not to stick your hand in there while the tractor is running. Well, then again, in today's world...............common sense is terribly lacking.

Heh, you like that last little add-on sentence huh?
I debated whether or not to also remove the metal guard on the tractor. In the end, I left it on because I do a lot of work around brush and trees, and I am concerned about something getting tangled. The metal guard may provide some level of protection is a minor inconvenience.

Obviously, you need at least two tractors.

:)

Cute answer but realistic. I have a JD 375 baler with just such a shaft but it also has a CV joint right at the tractor end of the connector so you can add a great deal of weight to the PTO shaft end besides the connection problems. Since I cut different fields at different times it means swapping the drum mower and baler off and on as each function is required..........

Not any more. I bough the 3910 last year to run the mower and once in the baling season I leave the baler on the 6530 and mow with the 3910. Besides I have other uses for it now that it's available when not haying.

On your comment Jeff, I'll try that. I have Ind. PTO and know there is a brake on the shaft when not engaged. I know when the tractor is off, the PTO is locked but I never tried connecting with it running. Will give that a try next time I hookup (if it will ever stop raining) and see. Thanks for the tip.

Are you talking about on the tractor or PTO shaft? My tractor PTO guards flip up out of the way for connecting.

This is a sure fire cure for PTO connection problems,,,

Really, I never have a problem with any type PTO shaft, if it is clean and lubed,,
I do use synthetic 90WT on the shaft so that it slides effortlessly,,, NOT grease,,,

Okaye, obviously they exist. I tried Newer Fire Tools, NewerFire Tools, Newer Fire PTO tool and Newer fire PTO adapter tool and found no results on Google Duck quack quack search engine. Mind sharing your source of the picture?

Edit: Cute!!!!!! I couldn't see how whatever those are could do anything in the way of attaching to a PTO hookup and went off and did something else for awhile. Came back and this screen was still on and it hit me...........

These are hand exercisers so your point is to strengthen your body to be able to do the work. Well, at 77 it just doesn't work like it used to, your doo-dads or not.

Trim away a few inches off that guard, makes it quite a bit easier. I trim a few inches off all the ends, makes changing shear bolts way easier on the bush hog too.

I forget who suggested this but seems like a good solution. I have a mid mount mower with a pull ring pto and it was a pia. This seems good.

It’s a 1/8 die hole

Good idea, but you almost need one on both sides, and therein lies the rub with that style of coupler. It has to be squeezed together completely and evenly.
