Welcome! Your at the right place.. these guys will help you spend your retirement on Tractorage!

100 acres is a lot.. depending on what you plan to do with it.. you may need something bigger than a compact even. What are you going to do on that 100 acres?

Welcome from Northern NY.You have a huge advantage being a heavy equipment mechanic so your choices are wide.
You could go with older iron if you chose.

Lots of snow in Newfoundland

I have two driveways being a 1/4 mile each

Have another 100 acres of trees for fire wood to cut

Have a large garage 2 story, just built and a new house on the ocean(fog, rain and wind all most always

Have a budget around 50k canadian

Looking at a B26TLB with a HLA 2000 blade and a thumb for backhoe,maybe a 2014 or newer

Dealers are John Deere,Kubota and Kioti

I am thinking that is very close to dealer price

You can get same at 60 months 0 % minus the tax

I am thinking you will nned/want a larger tractor- and an HLA 2000 blade is way too big for that to handle properly. (I have the same blade, except it's a 1000, on a L3400, and if I were to do it again, I would go for 72" blade, max.)

Probably R-4 tires for rocks and woods. Chains for snow removal. Hauling wood over rocky ground is hard on a tractor, especially something small like a B26 with its small tires, although it would be handy for lots of projects, for sure. If you are caring for stone or gravel lanes, a rear box blade or grader blade. No cab for work in the woods, but cab for winter snow removal. Ah! You will need two tractors.

Now, more experienced TbN's will start offering some serious advice, so we'll sit back and enjoy the information/opinions that will be coming!

B26 is a good staring point in your search. Rugged little workhorse should do well for woods work and digging. Things to ponder: a) not a lot of horsepower... if you've got enough snow to want a snowblower, B26 may may not have enough grunt; b) the older one gets, the nicer an enclosed cab setup looks, especially in snow country. If you get away from the construction-grade models like the B26, you might be able to get more horsepower or an enclosed cab. Note that the cab has its drawbacks for working in the woods. Best of luck with your plans. Others will have additional ideas.
