I called Gator today and they don't know when they will be able to make more tooth bars. The lady told me they need to order $10k worth of teeth at a time and they do not have the cash.

Anyone have an opinion on the next best place to get one? Also, are there different types? I've seen folks mention a "flat" bar.

Thanks!

I went to my local dealer mine was john Deere. They ordered me one don't really no were it was made but it is built very solid has replaceable teeth called ( fangs )
Took about a week to get
It was little pricy but after I used it made my tractor a digging machine.

I like my W. R. Long Flat tooth bar especially for back dragging. It's only available through dealerships however. Some tractor dealerships keep tooth bars in stock of various manufacturers.

The one on my 3720 came through John Deere as an add-on to the Frontier 4-in-1 bucket. But I got one for a Koykert bucket a few years back - off eBay. It was a 60-incher from Iowa; good fit, rugged, replaceable teeth. Probably outlast the bucket.

I "Second" the comment about the WR Long toothbar... Good company, sorry to hear about Gator... it was a good company when it was Markham. Tooth Bars TB, STB, and ITB

WR Long cut their own teeth :D for the toothbar, factory is in Tarboro, NC

I have a W.R. Long flat tooth bar and it's worked great. The best part is back dragging with the bucket flat and no teeth marks. I also purchased mine from my dealer but Iowa Farm Equipment Toothbars also sells them. Looking at their site, they have free shipping going on right now.

You can get the W R Long toothbars from Iowa Farm Equipment. They sell flat toothbars and standard toothbars. Shipping is included in the price and very fast. You can order them online or by phone.

Iowa Farm Equipment -- Bucket Toothbars & Cutting Edges

The specs look different on the 60" toothbar on Iowa Farm web site ($350 no measuring required) and the W. R. Long tooth bar on everything attachments web site ($362 and measuring IS required). Can they be the same item?

I have the flat toothbar from them and it is manufactured by W. R. Long. I also have a standard toothbar that I ordered from them and it is not a W. R. Long toothbar. I have a 6' roundback bucket, therefore, I cannot speak to the 60" toothbar.

Thanks... So I take it the non-flat toothbar must hang lower than the bucket bottom? Is there an advantage to that? Seems like a flat one would be better. When would you not want a flat tooth bar?

Dustin,

I got mine with the tractor from my dealer. Not sure who makes it, but it says "Penco" on the teeth and on the bar... I suspect it is a Penco :) but I did not see it online when I googled it.

Happy Tractoring,
David

The flat toothbar is not nearly as strong as the standard toothbar. The flat toothbar is good for lighter work and when you are cutting ground for levelling effect and you can back drag with it on the bucket and it does not leave tooth marks on the dirt. I ordered the flat toothbar first hoping it would fill all my needs, but I kept breaking off teeth when I was digging in heavy clay and/or rocky ground. Now, I only using it when I am landscaping and need to cut the ground to level. The toothbar makes it much easier to keep a level cut.

Thank You!

I called Iowa Farm equipment and the girl I spoke with was very helpful. She explained how the flat TB mounts differently and also that they do sometimes fail especially when they are over 60". I ordered a regular toothbar and she said I would have it by Thursday! Just 2 days! I hope their product is as awesome as the sales staff!

It's Nelson at W. R. Long Inc. We have been manufacturing the regular tooth bar for 20+ years now. This design has the shank that wraps around the bucket cutting edge and hangs down below the bucket blade. We make this tooth bar up to 84". About 5 years ago we started manufacturing the flat tooth bar design, which leaves the ground smooth when back dragging and also uses the tooth bar blade when going forward. We had a few failures with some of the Flat tooth bars that were over 72" long. The blade actually broke, which was due to putting one tooth on something and using the full force of the tractor to try and pry it out of the ground. We now only make the flat tooth bar up to 62" in width.

Thanks

Nelson

I'll second Nelson's comment about the flat tooth bar. Mine is the 48 inch and has worked in a lot of rock and dirt without fail. Again, it is on a Kubota BX 2660 and is only 48 inches. And it fit perfectly as received.
