Need Advice on Buying An Equipment Trailer

I would go no smaller than 18'. I have a MX5100 (50 HP) and I can squeeze my tractor, rear blade on with very little room to spare. Would't mind having another 2' or so....

Totally agree- even my 40 hp ford and the brush cutter is a little long for my 20 foot tilt trailer. mowing Kim & Dons finished 009.JPG

It would also be over weight if limited to 6850 lbs. on the trailer and or trucks load capacity

tractor 3800 + 1500 loader +900(loaded 14.9x28") 800lbs. Old ford 6ft. brush cutter + 700lbs. riding mower = 7700lbs. ... it adds up quick

You will have to be careful in your choices- to meet your weight limitations

Thanks to everyone for the advice. My tractor weighs 4585 with cab and then have the loader plus tires filled with beet juice. I am up to 6500 real quick. I would not be hauling anything other than the tractor at one time. And I forgot to mention I am looking at a bumper pull.

Rethink hauling just the tractor. That's like going fishing and taking only the pole but leaving the beer and tackle box at home. A tractor without implements is pretty worthless.

I usually have one under the FEL, one on the 3 point, and one in my trucks bed.

I went from a 18' to a 22'. It allows me to adjust the location of the tractor depending on what truck I am pulling it with. Pull the tractor all the way to the front with the F250 and about 2' back with the F150. The length of the trailer has never been a issue with the bumper pull. CJ

Not to hijack the thread but what is the difference between an equipment trailer and a car hauler? Is one a deck over and the other a a deck between? I always thought a car hauler was the one axle thing that you drove the front end of a car on and towed but the reference on message #9 say otherwise.

I would agree go with the 18 ft min; better the 20 ft trailer. I have an 18 and often wish I had the 20 ft

The 1 axle thing is a car dolly.

Several answers, some, all or none can be relevant on any given trailer:
1) Marketing (A.K.A nothing)
2) Equipment trailers tend to have higher load ratings & be a bit beefier/heavier than a car hauler
3) Car haulers tend to care a little more about not blocking the door when you go to get out of the car
4) Car haulers tend to have a smoother loading system (longer ramps, lower deck, etc.) so your low car can get up without getting gutted, not as big of a concern for equipment

I've looked at Kaufman, PJ, Appalachian, and Texas Pride to date. I will on different occasions be hauling a Mule, or a ZTR, or a tractor. (Right now a 45 hp but am thinking about moving up to a 65 hp.) My big problem is trying to decide on length of trailer, should I go with the 16 or 18 ft. and also who makes the best trailer. Kaufman trailers bought factory direct are reasonable but I do have a PJ dealer only 12 miles away. I will be towing with a Ford F150 Ecoboost with the towing package.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Oleozz, please call us at Kaufman if you have any questions and still need help. 866-455-7444
