I want to do something to maintain the nightmare growing along both sides of my paved driveway. I have an overgrowth of brush. Clearly I need to chop it all down, but I need help coming up with a method that is easy and convenient to perform each year or suggestions to change the landscape permanently to make it more easy to maintain in the future. The problem with the lay of the land is that the grade goes up ~2' where the brush originates at a very steep slope. I can't run the tractor or the ZTR directly over the land without fear of a tip over.

Tools at my disposal:

Kubota L45 w/ FEL and Backhoe
72" Brush Hog
61" Zero Turn Mower
Stihl FS85 String Trimmer (also have "star" brush cutting attachment)
Stihl MS361 & MS192T Chainsaws

Thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks!

Can you grade the sides down to a cuttable angle - sort of a lot of work BUT after that is done you will be able to cut it very quickly in the future. To do or trees I have a Stihl pole pruner and pole chainsaw and I just trim everything back once a year. Mostly cut it at least 10 foot high and back wide enough that nothing hits mirror even from the edge of the road.

I think I am leaning towards that. Sure, it might be a ton of work this year...but I don't have to buy any new equipment and I should be able to just drive up and down the side twice a year when I do my regular brush hogging.

I think 10' might be a bit much. Think 6' would cut it?

I mostly go around 10 foot so the UPS guys truck misses the branches plus by 2500 PU sits up a bit extra (ok I had to oversize the tires, it just looks better to me) and when it rains and everything "droops" some stuff catches my antenna.

When it rains right now my driveway is just about impassable. LOL

looks like you have a lot of small trees to deal with. one thing that made it a lot easier for me was I waited till fall and witer when all the leaves were gone and got thru a lot faster, I could see a lot more of what I needed to do.

How big can the brush be? Does the mount angle out to cut back at an angle?

ac

one inch if I remember right and the mount I had to fab up the guy I bought it from did not have the original mount that came with it.

I'd hire a boom mower for the first time and find a used sickle bar mower, 7 or 9 foot bar, and run up and down once a year with that.
