Looks good. Ended up spending a few hours today trimming up our lane after seeing your post the other day....

Looking better... Personally though, I would push it back to about a foot past the poles..

That is a good looking drive avc. You have made a good start on it. Once you get it under control, it will be easier to maintain. When you have half a day you can spend clearing brush, think of it as getting to do it. Most people don't have the opportunity to clear their own long driveway.

We have a family reunion coming up down at our creek camp. [my avatar is a picture of our Ten Mile Creek land] My brother-in-law is having knee surgery, so it will fall to me to clear up the three lane road going in and a parking area near the camp. But it is all level ground, and the road is under the power lines. I will just be making it safe for the city cousins to drive and park their low cars. The only chainsawing I will have it cleaning up a blown down tree and a few bigger limbs.

When you say "poles" are you referring to the tree line or the utility pole in the pic of the temporary brush pile?

The next step is to clean up a few other spotty areas that are a problem. Then I need to consider popping some of the larger "stumps" of what I just cleared with the backhoe. My buddy said they may cause a flat when I attempt to brush hog the area in the fall.

The neighbor blames the state of NJ. Apparently this was all "Russian Olive" bush that the state brought in to "provide habitat for birds". Apparently between this bush and sumac trees the natural brush and trees don't stand a chance.

Utility poles... I take it from your question though that that is what you did and what we are seeing is not brush, but the pile? In that case, nevermind :D

avc, how often do the power lines get cleared? It looks like the light company should have that mowed ten or twelve feet past the poles. If they would clear along the lines, that would get part of it done for you.
Here in Florida, they do it every two years. They figure that is cheaper than sending a repair truck out in the middle of the night when a limb falls on the line and knocks out power.
