smilinjak, you're not nagging and Rick, I understood what you were saying in your first response. I've been studying the wiring diagram and attempting to trace the corresponding wires on the tractor. What is/may be throwing me off is every other electrical item on the tractor works as it should.
I'm probably talking out of my rear end, but is there any chance the alternator could be putting out too much voltage? I'm reluctant to put in the new fusible link and start it until I'm pretty sure the underlying problem is resolved.
I had a few minutes this morning and rechecked the sender wiring. With the sender screwed to the tank, the gasket under it is not torn. When checking continuity of the ground lead, why do I get a continuity reading when I touch the fuel cap or certain spots of the tank? I assume the gasket is to prevent fuel from sloshing out, wouldn't it also electrically isolate the sender from the metal tank? I realize the more experienced people in the audience might be laughing at me, but me and electrical diagnosing don't get along very well. But I'm not giving up.
