Need help mounting FEL on JD 4200

Hi Folks,

I don't have a ton of info at this point, but I'm hoping something will ring a bell.

My neighbor and i are going to be moving some gravel this weekend. He has a 4200 with a FEL (300x or 300cx i believe, i'm not sure). He said he's more than happy to use this equipment, but he cannot get the FEL mounted again.

Basically he said that he can get the loader lined up properly, but that the 'weight just isn't shifting back' and he can't get it the rest of the way hooked up. (I just realized how pointless this might be with no more information)

Are there any vidoes demonstrating how to hook this up or troubleshooting common problems? He got his tractor stuck in a big hole last year, so it's possilble something got bent.

I have a 4400, and you put the loader on the same way as the 4200. But, if the loader is on ground that is not level, rotsa ruck...

1) Drive tractor forward until front axle touches loader.
2) Attach four hoses
3) SLOWLY move the joystick for the loader front or back (can't remember) and the loader frame will move and the brackets will slide into the square mounting brackets on the center of the frame. I sometimes need to put it in gear and wiggle the tractor back and forth slightly so it lines up right.
4) When it connects the right way, the plate on the front latches in to the front of the frame. You have it correct when the latch lever on the left side of the bucket is all the way back.
5) Install the safetly latch on the front of the frame

I have had serious problems twice. Once when the loader was not setting on level ground. Second time I had a hard time relieving the pressure in the loader hoses and had to unscrew one slightly before connecting it. Normally a hard tap on some metal does the trick, not this time.

Hi Wayne,

Just wanted to say thanks again for your help! That did the trick. The bucket was completely 'laid down' so we had to drive the tractor up along side it and hook up the hoses to extend the lower frame down and push up the, uh, sockets that catch the side pins. Once that was done we were able to follow your directions and get it hooked up.

Three hours later, potholes were filled. Thanks again, appreciate the help.

No problem, glad it worked out. Just when you take that off, make sure it is on level ground, if the loader is tweaked, it makes it very hard to install.

On the loader are the instructions for mounting it, it is on the decal on the left post.
