I've just bought a used L3710 and needed a trailer. having gone over budget on the tractor I bought one private sale 10,000 GVW 16' for $1500. Being new at this I came to realize the trailer was a 7000 GVW with a 10,000 lb coupler. Trying to make the best of it I put new load range D tires, then new springs (3000 lb each) now the trailer is too high to load the machine, The BH subframe bottoms out if I go loader first or hits the trailer if I load BH first. I need a new trailer my local dealer here in Mass wants $3500 for his cheapest 10,000 I have seen prices much lower in other states and would be willing to drive 500 to 1000 miles for a good trailer at a better price. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance

my tractor hoe mounts also hits and I have a year old 12,000 at 18 ft. What I did was to cut an angle in two 4 X 4 pressure treated that was laying around.. Each is 6 ft long and placed under the trailer loading ramps.. It is enough to get a machine up on the ramps without the hoe mounts hitting or dragging.. the angle cut in one end is to allow the tractor to "climb" easily onto the wood ramps.. Lot cheaper than buying another trailer..

I believe the problem lies with living in Ma. Be prepared to pay a higher price on tractors and all other related items. This was my experience when shopping around. Watch Ebay for deals or do as another member stated, block up your ramps.

I have a trailer question as well - I hope you don't mind if I hitchhike onto your thread. I'm going to buy an L48, and the vehicle I have to tow it with is a 1-ton chevy cargo van with a 6.5 liter turbo-diesel, with a towing capacity of around 14,000 - 16,000 lbs. I do not have a CDL, so do I need to squeeze the L48 onto a 10,000 trailer? Wouldn't leave much room for attachments...Tony
