Get a 15 gallon garden sprayer from TSC and hook it up to spritz into the feeder fork area. That's all an acid attachment is / does. Give it 12v and presto...
In the simplest terms that is all it does but the applicator he is looking at is basically a computer that monitors the current moisture level of the hay and applies the proper amount of preservative automatically. If the moisture rises or drops it adjusts automatically. With a simple sprayer you would have to calibrate it properly and as the field changes you would either have to manually adjust the sprayer or just toss the preservative on heavy and waste money.
You really have to bale a lot of hay though to make the computer controlled applicator pay for itself in preservative savings so it isn't for everyone and is why I don't have one
