Need some atv advice

Its a little slow (only tops out at 40 mph)

I am confused. These are not ON-road vehicles. What kind of off road surface do you want to go faster than 40 mph?

I've had my 400 up to 32mph or so and felt it was stupid and dangerous to run that fast across the pasture.

What's the big hurry (to rush to the ER or morgue)?

I was thinking that I would go with the power vs speed. I dont want it to go fast, just because I know that somone will try to go that fast and it will be bad.
I have a snowblower, but hunching over it gets to be a pain, I just wanted something that I can get out and plow our gravel drive instead of worrying about another piece of equipment that is used only part of the year.

I only open it up on good fire roads, I never take it on pavement, nor do I drive in the field that fast. I had a bud in a bad accident when he hit a hole in a field doing about 25 mph.

Alot of people look for atvs that push 55 or 60.

If was closer,would sell you my 08 Kawasaki-Brute Force -650-4x4,I dont even ride it much anymore since I have my Artic Cat Prowler. I would Def.get 4x4,maybe look for an older Honda Rancher or even better Honda Rubicon,the BruteForce kinda fall in the more sporty cat. If going to haul alot of weight would go with the straight axle over independent. I would be alittle worried about buying used these days cause of all the 4wheeler parks they got out(never know),check it out really good.

Something else to consider is to get a machine with either oil or liquid cooling. Pushing snow is slow moving hard work and you need a way to get rid of the heat. I have had 2 Honda 450ES 4WD ATVs for about 12 years without a single issue with either machine. If I were looking today I would look at a used ATV. With everybody looking for side by sides the market is down for ATVs in our area.

Carefull I made a similiar comment not too long ago and someone got angry with me-said I how dare I tell people what they should or should not buy. I agree with you though, most of my trail riding is around 30mph and slower.

I am looking at an atv,
I would like one for plowing the driveway, and running up to the top of our property where we have some tree stands. I will not be using it all the time, and I just cant justify dropping a whole lot of cash on something that will be only used on my property.

As I was searching I came across,

they have 110 cc atvs for 6-700 dollars.
I have bought things from this company before but I am wondering about the atvs
has anyone bought one from them, used this brand?

110 cc will not be enough, I would recommend at least a 400cc. It doesnt have to be 4 wheel drive because you can add chains to the rear wheels. However, in your case you meantioned going up to the top of your property so I'm assuming a steep incline? If so a 4 wheel drive is a plus. My 60" Moose plow works great and my 650cc is more than enough but I lose traction way before I lose power.

I have ridden on the marked and set up trails for these things and you get up to 50-60 mph out there but it is a marked, designated trail that is designed to ride on with a atv. Plus that is probably going a little fast anyway Dont matter how fast you drive someone will always pass you. As far as a off brand atv goes, I would stick with a brand name unit and just get a used one. It will far outlast a new china unit and if it breaks parts are a little easier to get. I have worked on the china units and know people that own them. There is a reason they are so cheap Actually have a 650 rincon like cdaigle430 and it really moves the snow but you look like the Michelin man when you get done...

Yeah, you reminded me of years ago we were on a Wayne NF trail system and some hot shot kid comes flying around corner and sees me and hits the brakes and dumps it. Broke the footpeg and sprained his ankle. A few minutes later his dad shows up and says "I keep telling him to slow down but he just won't listen....".

If there are places that people are running 40-60 mph, well, let's just say that I'm happy I haven't been on a public ATV trail in over ten years....

I have a Polaris 400 4x4 with a snow plow that I bought originally to plow my 600' gravel driveway. I bought it used and paid just over $3K a couple of years ago and the machine is a 2004 model. If you are going to push snow I would recommend 4wd (I have never needed chains). It plows good but as someone else mentioned if you get windrows built up on the sides there is only so much you can push before the snow starts pushing you back due to the lack of mass with the machine. My drive is up a hill and that also sometimes causes issues. I don't know how much snow you get but you won't be able to bust through big drifts if they are very long. If you are typically pushing 3-6" snows without a lot of drifting you will be fine.
