I would think the used piece 9 hours away would be gobbled up by someone like yourself, only nearby. This is not a collectable piece, I would think a trader or dealer would be on the prowl for a bargain.

I mentioned to another post the Ohio Power Equipment Show is coming up 1/30-31, 2/1 (Fri-Sat-Sun), Columbus, Ohio. Also someone mentioned a show coming up in Louisville,Ky.

Based upon your needs, I would agree something in the 35-40HP range. I have a JD 4500 (39HP 4WD) which is great, I looked at NH at the time, the dealer sold me on the JD. This particular dealer sold both and JD and NH.

I have observed since that purchase in 1999, the presense of Kubota has increased dramatically in the surrounding area. I was told that Kubota has shown a willingness to do business and help the dealer make a profit that green and blue have not. If I was buying new today orange would certainly be a consideration, if the dealer run a quality business. I am very particular about how the dealer operates and more importantly how they take care of their customers. My father always said service would be remembered long after the price is forgotten.

When is Marshall going to play WVU?

Happy hunting,

Louisville is the Show.If you want to see Tractors or anything else for that matter /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It is big enough that You can't begin to take it all in a day.

February 10th through the 14th if I am not mistaken.

The 4150 gives you more horsepower then you are looking for. They were a very good tractor and good for many hours. We just let one go at an aution with a loader. There was no straight sheet metal and the lights were all broken as well as dash was not working. Tractor had over 4000 hours of what looked like hard work. It still ran great and everything mechanically worked. Cosmetically I'd rate it a 2-3 mechanically a 7-8. The unit brought 8500.

I definitely need to expand my "local area" and see what else is closer to me (Milton, WV). The new tractors are pretty attractive as far as the financing and dealer support go, but I want to get as much bang for my buck. My local JD dealer has a good reputation for service and was very helpful when I looked at their equipment, but they had mostly new equipment. I haven't had a chance to get to Jjividen's in Gallipolis yet, but I went to their store in Proctorville, OH. They were friendly and helpful although they just had a couple of new Century models there.

Any thoughts on what to look for with the backhoe? I plan to dig some drainage and utility trenches (around 2000 feet for water service) and clean up some hillside slips (with the help of the FEL).

It's tough holding back the urge to throw around some dirt! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I would look into the import tractors, the JINMA I have is a great little maching, they are pretty much all gear drives, dut osme of the koytas & centries are not getting hydros.

I have a 284: (28 HP 4 wheel drive) runs great, 3 cyl diesel ~24 pto hp. has gone just about anywhere i wanted. they also have 304's & 354's which are pretty big tractors. very HEAVY compaired to the japan/korean built tractors. my tractor with FEL & HOE on weighs almost 6K lbs. though I reinforced the hoe quite well. They can be had pretty resonable for TLB you can get a 284 for less than 14K easy, and for the 354 TLB looking at maybe 16K there is a dealer near galopolis. oh. not sure of the guys name.

check this site for dealers near you

Have you considered a ditchwitch/trencher?

Spiker, I have looked into the Jinma and Chinese lines. From what I understand they have improved as far as reliability over the past few years, but I'm mainly interested in the "big three." Although, the Century and Kioti products sound pretty appealing.

Old Hickory, I've checked out renting a ditch witch, but with the hoe I can get the work done without too much of a rush and also use it for future projects (I have a couple of creek runoffs that I want to clean up and lay in culvert as well as maintain driveway drainage ditches, etc). This also is a good way to justify the extra cost to my wife. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

if you like the Jimna, and are handy with tools,
check out this site.
http://www.tractor-outlet.com/

they import jimna in a crate, if you've got a weekend free, it's not that difficult to put together, and you can get the
35hp 4 wheel drive with fel and back hoe for about 13500!!!

pretty cool
