Wow, that tire was dragged for quite some time, maybe the wheel came lose and wedged itself and dragged until it finally wore through?

Well, only went about 500-600 ft before getting off the road and stopped. Yes, I now believe that is what happened.

Yup, that didn't happen in 600ft!

Ok.... if u say so.... but I happened to actually have been driving, so let me reiterate what happened.... driving 70 in middle lane, no wobble, no drag, smooth as silk.... THEN, big LOUD POW! Check side mirror immediately, see trailer slightly pitch/lean to the left... let off gas, slowing apply brakes while checking traffic behind, nothing there so I immediately take it to the far right lane and pull off the road and stop. Get out, see black mark that started what looked to be approx 350 feet... after jacking up and seeing all 5 lug nuts were gone, walked back down the highway approx 500ft or a little more, to the beginning of the black mark... found 2 of the lugs on my side of the road, and seen what I believed to be 2 others across the other 3 lanes of highway but too busy to go over and pick them up.... so, if it blew out sometime prior to that, or I was dragging it sideways down the highway, it gave no indication to me that was the case.... I’m no expert by any means, but I would imagine if you take that same tire and place 350-400lbs of downforce on it, (I had about 700#’s of load), and drag it with at a starting speed of 70MPH with a now shattered, sharp, piece of aluminum pressing down between the rubber and the road, and push it like that for 500-600 feet, I would think that tire would look very much like the one in the pic.... but who knows, perhaps I was dragging it under the trailer for a few miles at 70mph and just didn’t notice it until the last 600 ft. If I lived close enough to where it happened I would go take a pic of the black mark left on the road, or even measure it.

Where was the original blowout point then?

Well, I would assume at same time of the Big Bang and the start of the black mark....

I mean in the tire, is there another part of the tire that shows a blowout or just the hole where it wore through?

I didn’t inspect the tire that closely, but I’ll check... I guess it’s possible that the same hole that is worn through was the original blow out hole to start with...

That's kinda how it appears to me, looks like the wheel jammed or locked up and drug until it blew then drug some more.

The area that is worn appears to be larger indicating it was still inflated while being dragging. At least from what I can see in the pictures.

Not sure what you were pulling it with but with a decent sized truck and that light of a trailer I could see where you might not notice it at first cruising down the highway.

I guess my thoughts are that if the wheel was off the studs and in a bind, at the very least I would expect that to cause the trailer to not track straight, not to mention want to weave, if even a little. Also, I would have expected the lug nuts to be miles down the road not all, or most, located from the first sigh of a black mark to where I then pulled off the road. I’m pretty **** about continuously checking all mirrors while driving, especially while pulling a trailer...just wish I had been as **** about checking lug nuts...
I was just pulling with a 1/2 ton pickup with a V8 in it, so just a standard truck.
