I have a friend who needs to add two rear remotes to the back of his John Deere 5300. We need to know where to tie into at on this model tractor, he said dealer wanted 2k to install them so I figured TBN could help us figure out how to do it. I have attached pictures showing the pump and the main line running to a block in the rear of the tractor. Im thinking this is the Pressure supply for the 3 point lift. Im assuming that these plugs on this block in the rear would be the proper place to add line(s) for the remotes. Just dont know which ones, they didn't seem to be labeled that I could see. There is no loader on this tractor, line goes straight from pump to this block that is mounted to the rear of the tractor sort of under the seat.

Dealer not an option. Can you put a double spool valve in line between pump and 3 point? Power Beyond would go to 3 point where would return to tank go? The tank?

Dealer should have a schematic.

Your q isn’t that easy- you have no pressure regulation that I can see and the 3 point typically doesn’t get pressure regulated.

Go to a JD dealer and look / pictures of any similar tractor with a loader. Pay attention to the add-on block. Or just get the loader hydraulic kit and slap it on. I use the loader connections for my rear remote needs.

Neither would a typical loader valve then that comes straight off the pump on any standard tractor with a factory loader, unless its built into the valve.

The whole point of this is to not pay JD 1500-2500 dollars to add rear remotes. JD mid mount valve is gonna run 1500 alone.

Sounds like you’ve got this figured out. You’ve managed to argue with every person offering help. Good luck

Gee Neumann, didn't know you were so sensitive.

Anything can be done;
If the line from the pump to the block was redone to pass thru an SCV with the pump feed going in the pressure port and the power beyond going to the port on the tractor block, with an additional return to tank piped into the tractor chassis it would work fine.
It almost looks like your pressure relief is visible in the front of the block pictured.
I am assuming the desire is to use a valve from some place such as Burden Surplus instead of the expensive JD parts.
You might be surprised at JD pricing depending on your dealer;

There is also a thread on here about the installation of this with a pdf thats very informative, the tread title is LV100117 pdf

Also you could consider used, Wengers shows a used dual scv for $995

Yes thats it exactly, I agree I think it will work fine. My only concern was where to "T" the return/tank line from a new aftermarket valve back into the system, i suppose anywhere would work as long as it returned to the reservoir/tank. I will check out this catalog to see if i could find something maybe even used, ill google this LV number you have here.

Back when I ordered my 5400, the dealer just "t'd" into the loader valve iirc. Not sure if that was a cost saving thing or just the way JD did it, but I remember having a conversation with him that we both didn't like the loader supply lines running under & over the rear axle.
Now this was back in about 1996 and seemed a non issue at the time so my memory of it is questionable and If your friend does not have a loader.......

I think to install aftermarket scv & not do harm to tractor's hyd system one will need to acquire/install a PBY valve similar to photo below. After PBY valve has been installed one can plumb generic control valves.

One can't successfully "TEE" into a open center hyd system. Valves must be attached in series on OC system

Like I said Jim, it was a long time ago and it worked fine so I did not have any personal interaction with it during my 12-15 years of ownership and don't remember the actual plumbing. I know it had the extra factory control levers and outlets/mounting but the actual plumbing I can't speak to. As far as I know that time was early in the now common "loader valve stays on the tractor" line of thinking and there was something funky about how JD "powered" the loader valve, I have a vague recollection that it was with rubber lines from the rear outlets.

I put on a backhoe hookup for a 5310 and have some info on the kit for that. You can see where the hoses go. The kit is NLA and I made up the hose and fitting. You can forget the BH hookup and put a valve in it's place.
If you aren't done with it I'll send you what I have. BTY the valve on the 5300 looks the same as the 5310. the 5310 is open center.
