If op wants to use it on trails occasionally when camping probably check to see if there's width restrictions for trails in area he might be riding it.
That's for sure a concern and something I look at on a machines specs. B.

I've owned two Polaris ATV/UTV, one since 1994 (sold a few years ago, still running). My current is the Ranger Full Size 570cc 3-seater. It is a workhorse plus it is fun. Has the power and brute to handle anything on my 25 acres. Check the specs compared to others -- more pulling power and more cargo weight capability. And it will go almost 60mph when I go to town down the county road. PLUS -- it's made in the USA!

Polaris used(may still) Fuji motors in most of their ATV's.
I am for purchasing USA built but difficult for most things.
Most are assembled in the States from parts sourced from all over the world;this includes cars and trucks also.

What I don’t like in a lot of utv’s is the single cylinder engine. They seam loud, do not have a nice exhaust note and more vibration. I think the defender and gator have 3 cyl engine available on some models that sounds like a car not an old John Deere tractor (2 cyl). I don’t think they should use single cyl engines in any of these units. I have 2013 case/ih scout xl with 670cc vtwin air cooled that runs excellent, smooth and has nice exhaust note. It has 3050 hours on it and still started outside ( Manitoba ca) all winter. It’s quite slow but perfect for me on my acreage (83 years old). Good cab and heat

The new Kawasaki Ridge UTV has an in-line 4 cylinder engine.

Personally I don’t care for large displacement engines with only one cyl. I know that some models of the defender and gator & maybe others have 3 cyl engines that are very smooth and quiet. I have a 2013 case/ih scout xl ( made by club car) with a kawi v twin 670 air cooled engine that runs very smoth even tho it’s got 3050 hours on it ( hav e similar engine in my 6x4 gator and jd lawn tractor but liquid cooled. CF moto looks and may be good but I think they are Chinese

Funny thing, this winter broke a cast aluminum piece on a skidoo snowmobile, parts made in Vietnam, even has brp on it, snowmobile says made not assembled in Canada, anyways Yamaha ATVs are assembled in the USA.

My kawasaki has a 2 cylinder gas, liquid cooled engine with power steering. Its not very noisy at all. I didnt like the diesel side by sides as they were quite loud. I work along side horses in fields.

I was prepared for my new Kubota RTV-X 3-cylinder diesel engine to be loud. I was pleasantly surprised that it is quieter than my 10-year-old Kawasaki 4010 gas motor. My 3 horses don't mind it at all.

With the RTV-X it is much easier to do daily operation checks and maintenance such as cleaning the radiator and oil cooler screens. Everything is under the hood except the oil and transmission dipsticks. With the hydraulic dump bed they are easily accessible. Storage under the seats is handy for the 2" ball mount for the rear receiver hitch, small straps, and rags.

The noise your atv or utv makes has to do how carefully they designed its setup, not the number of cylinders it has.

Things have changed since the time i was loking at the kubota and the kioti side by sides. Both were super noisy. And at the decibel level that ate my brain.

I’ve owned a CF Moto Uforce 800 for two years and it’s been a great machine. I’ve asked it to do more than I probably should and it’s never let me down. Neighbors buried his Ram 3500 dually in the pasture, he laughed when I hooked a tow strap to the hitch of the Moto. 10 minutes later he shook my hand and said thanks after I pulled him 1/4 to the hardtop.

I’ve driven Mules, Gators, and offerings by Honda and Kubota and they all have their pros and cons but are overall good vehicles that would do most anything you ask. When I was in the market for a unit to do pretty much the same tasks as the OP listed on my 15 acres I took a chance on CF Moto, saved myself $4-10k against other brands, and I have zero regrets.

Good luck purchasing whatever you decide to get.

My friend bought one of these chinese side by sides, had to replace heads one time under warranty…..took something like 6 weeks in shop. The new heads are shot now, and hes shopping for a kawasaki mule.

8 acres, golf cart or electric ATV. More than that is probably overkill unless it something you want more than need. Which is fine.

OP also states that he wants to use the machine for trail riding/camping. Automatically eliminates a golf cart or electric ATV. Last I checked the longest range on any electric ATV/UTV these days is 40 miles and that just won't cut it.

Went on a short ride yesterday...99.1 miles by the time we got back to the truck/trailer. I would LOVE an electric side by side with ~ 200 mile range because one of my main complaints about any engine-powered one is the noise. Would love to have one that was silent except for the sound of the tires on the dirt!

We went to the site of a B17 Flying Fortress crash that happened in 1941. After 84 years there were pieces of airplane still scattered all over the mountainside. Any of you who are "old warplane buffs" can tell me what this part of the airplane might have been?

Hello all,

So, I really could use a utility side by side for around my 8 acres. Mainly for fence repair, general maintenance, irrigation repairs and target setting out to my 200 yard range. And of course some trail riding while camping. I am looking at five different machines. Most are three seaters. No need for a six seater. Here they are not listed in any particular order;

1 CFMoto UForce U10 Pro
2 Kawasaki Ridge/Ranch Edition
3 Polaris Range 1000
4 Honda Pioneer 1000-5
5 Can Am Defender X MR

I know there are others on the market. I was really interested in a Massimo T-Boss 1000, but they are not available in Kalifornia. My main focus here is ease of service, riding comfort and durability. So, if you happen to have one of these machines, can you kindly chime in as to what you do and don't like about it. I have ridden in a Honda Pioneer before and it was a great machine. I kicked the tires on a Kawasaki Ridge and it looks like a great machine, but getting to the air filter looks like a pain in the rear. I have yet to sit in any of the other three. Mainly because there are none on dealer floors in the Stockton area. I really want to look at the CFMoto. A Tracy dealer is expecting some in early May.

Ok, thanks guys/gals. B.
I had a honda Pioneer and it was a great machine. However, I found that it rode too rough. It only had 5" of suspension travel. I sold it and bought a yamaha wolverine 850. Much better ride and just as versatile for work, but much better on a trail ride.

I'm guessing engine mount.

Since we do mostly recreational riding, I sold my Pioneer 500 and purchased a Can Am Maverick Trail DPS 1000. The thing I miss the most from the Honda was the transmission. I’m still not a fan of the CVT but, we love the new Can Am.
