Need utility Side by Side

Does Idaho have that law too? I grew up in CA and I remember when the speed limit was 55 for everything, and then they raised it to 65, but if you were towing a trailer, then it was still 55.

Every time I towed a trailer, I broke that law. I never got a ticket, but the cops would flash their headlights at me or pull up beside me and either honk their horn or turn on their interior light as they passed me. I always took that as a warning, so I slowed down. I don't remember anybody ever getting a speeding ticket for towing faster than 55, but I'm sure it happened.
No towing laws here. Me, i always try to keep up with traffic if towing the flatbed or box trailer. By i do drive slower when hauling the horse trailer.

I have a camera inside the horse trailer, and i can see the horses actions when turning, etc. it tends to make me more cautious.

Heck, were one of those crazy states that alloy you to pull 3 trailers.

We have people show up at horse shows with a huge rv, pulling a horse trailer thats pulling a boat for use after the show

Is that still the law in CA? You can only drive 55mph when towing a trailer?
Yep and after pandemic years with little enforcement the CHP is again out in force…

I'm seeing more contraptions called sled decks I believe to load 2 snow machines on a deck above the bed sides of a pickup truck. Instead of using a 2 place snowmobile trailer. if you used one for a sxs I could see you might need to get a permit or at least pre plan a route avoiding low bridges. I think you'd definitely be top heavy.
MANY years ago, I used 2x4's on their flat and plywood on top of the bed sides of my pickup to have a place to haul sno-mobiles.

It worked just fine.

I'm sure it did, was referring to if someone tried to load a significantly top heavier side x side on top of a trucks bedrails. Probably attempted both successful and unsuccessfully.

Ive seen the pickups with the bed in back that carry 2 snowmobiles. They piss me off when they hit home depot and take up 3 parking spots :giggle:

Hello all,

So, I really could use a utility side by side for around my 8 acres. Mainly for fence repair, general maintenance, irrigation repairs and target setting out to my 200 yard range. And of course some trail riding while camping. I am looking at five different machines. Most are three seaters. No need for a six seater. Here they are not listed in any particular order;

1 CFMoto UForce U10 Pro
2 Kawasaki Ridge/Ranch Edition
3 Polaris Range 1000
4 Honda Pioneer 1000-5
5 Can Am Defender X MR

I know there are others on the market. I was really interested in a Massimo T-Boss 1000, but they are not available in Kalifornia. My main focus here is ease of service, riding comfort and durability. So, if you happen to have one of these machines, can you kindly chime in as to what you do and don't like about it. I have ridden in a Honda Pioneer before and it was a great machine. I kicked the tires on a Kawasaki Ridge and it looks like a great machine, but getting to the air filter looks like a pain in the rear. I have yet to sit in any of the other three. Mainly because there are none on dealer floors in the Stockton area. I really want to look at the CFMoto. A Tracy dealer is expecting some in early May.

Ok, thanks guys/gals. B.
We have a 2020 Polaris Ranger Crew 1000 EPS that has become indispensable on our homestead. We use it for fence repair, feeding the horses, hauling firewood, hauling dirt with its dump bed, moving the multiple trailers (horse, dump bed, double axle 18’ flat bed) around the property with its 2” receiver, hauling water for our ducks, fishing excursions to the creek, trail rides with the kids and even the occasional trip to the local ice cream counter at the general store down the road. It has preformed spectacularly with only basic routine maintenance. I was very skeptical about the price (we bought it used; 1 year old with 130 hrs on it) but it has been worth every single penny.

We're with you. The utility found in UTV or ATV is had to beat.
