Thanks for the update Tim sounds like he still has a long road ahead towards full recovery but least he is alive. I have not seen anything in the armed citizen yet but I am holding on to the belief they will post it.

fwtw My town is further along on their viscous breeds ordinances. They are setting up teeth in the law where a judge can order temperament testing besides licensing of certain breeds among other requirements and restrictions and of course a judge can order one put down. Its been hotly contested on both sides but I believe (finally) there will be strict enforcement once they are done.

The "against" pit bull group is winning and the only people the "for" pit bull people can blame is themselves. my .002

That's interesting.

I can't say that the purpose for which pit bulls and their many cousins were originally bred holds any attraction for me, but it does seem like those breeds have been widely co-opted by people of a certain mentality. Of course that will not further any breed's reputation and that is unfortunate. Take away the pit bulls, and they will move on to another breed perhaps; rinse, lather, repeat. Shame.

From what I understand the dog owners pleaded no contest or guilty to the citations and paid about $500 in fines. Somehow I don't see that as justice for my neighbor or myself.

Went to a BBQ this weekend and the people have two large dogs. When we arrived they came running to greet us, flashback! Wow did not expect that! My reaction to seeing the two dogs running was a shock. It was a bit hair raising. I have been at this house before and the dogs are very docile, however, my subconscious got the better of me.

Wimpy penalty - BUT... now comes a civil action against them. Hope he hits 'em hard.

He is about as good as he is going to get. Underwent over six months of treatment and therapy. He appears to get around okay and seems to have weathered the storm. I'm sure there are some lasting physical effects. He is one tough old bird, however, he does have a lingering distrust of all dogs large and small. The dog owners packed up and moved out.

A quick update and a "your not going to believe this addition". Saw the neighbor in shorts for the first time this year, there are some serious chunks missing from his legs and bares a lot of battle scars. He is getting around real well and routinely walks his property and mine when I am away. He is very apprehensive around dogs understandably.

Now for the addition::shocked:

The neighbor calls me yesterday and tells me that a kid just rode his bike up his driveway and asked if he had seen any dogs running loose. Seems the kid let the dogs loose some how and he is scouting the neighborhood looking for his dogs. The dogs he let loose, two PIT BULLS! Never imagined that I would ever see that again. The kid explained that they were not aggressive..... Flash back to just about a year ago. Seems the kid knew of the attack on the neighbor and understood his reluctance to approach any dogs that may show up at his property. The kid understood the situation and left his phone number should the dogs showed up. Now I am constantly on high alert when my dog, small Boston terrier, is outside with me; tethered she would be no match for one pit bull let alone two.

My only comment is Any dog can be dangerous. I was with a Pitbull for two years , the dog wasn't aggressive , but you still treated him like he could be. My Golden Retriever bit me once when we were playing , an accident but still the rip was large. It makes me upset when animal owners don't keep their dogs contained , the man that this thread was started over will agree.
