Neighbor doesn't want me to farm.

I ran into neighbor differences as well in the past week. It just amazes me how little it takes to start a feud! He was in his tree stand trying to hunt deer. I was landscaping, with an OEM back-up alarm on my loader.

Hah. How much land for both of you? I really think the deer could care less about farm equipment that is more than a hundred yds away. I have killed big deer that were less than 100 yds from a busy road. It actually helps because I can use the traffic noise to cover the sound of my movements.
I know that a property i used to hunt was next to a place that often had recreational shooters and they would sometimes shoot all day. Last day of the season last year they shot all day long. All kinds of weapons. I was amazed that anyone can afford that much ammo.

That's what we used to do. All kinds of crazy military hardware. Not just all day, but often at night. Tracers are more fun at night! Even one weekend with commercial explosives! What a horrible neighbor I was! And no one ever called the cops. AMAZING!

I think it was just the irritating noise for the hunter, more then the prospect of it scaring his prey. We each have a hundred acres and I was working a couple hundred yards from his little tree fort. It was close to dark and sound really travels around here.

Have you seen any negative effect on pollination? Still getting good fruit production?

Most of my trees are old and the branches have a hard time supporting all the apples. But the pests I am controlling come on much later than pollination, so the Spinosad doesn't seem to impact the crop. Very few bees at that time.

I did some reading on it. That looks like a promising product.

I have used Spinosad on smaller maple trees to kill forest tent caterpillars that were strip'n the leaves off all my maples. Nothing I could do to help the big trees. It sounded like rain walking out in the woods with all the krap falling down. Spinosad is a new alternative to BT... someone found it in the ground near some old brewery or sumptin... Finally some type of fly starting to over breed and kill off the caterpillars... laying their eggs in the live caterpillar. But that was about five years ago.... The forest tent caterpillars are not to be confused with the tent caterpillars that build an actual nest and attack trees like cherries....

Last place I helped Dad farm was 10 miles out in the boonies from Craigmont, Id. Cat 22 (that is a little crawler tractor. Working the field with that I could get almost within poking distance of deer if I didn't stop the tractor. If they were more than about 20 yards away just stopping as long as it kept idling and they paid no attention. Filled the tag a couple times from the seat.

Your neighbors may even support it since it is natural. That'd be a turn of events. :D

I don't know what I would do if I did not have good neighbors... simply having a tractor or a trailer not in a garage is forbidden... good thing I've helped all of them!

Dude! How can you live there? Seriously! So many rules and restrictions. (wood stoves and such). I'm pretty sure you're neighbors would think the Clampets came to the city if I tried to live there.
I'm guessing your not allowed to pee in your yard either?
