Even my wife’s chihuahua would not tolerate a deer that close, much less the heeler and border collie.

the sad part is even though it's written in law in Massachusetts, the issue becomes if you use a gun for self defense, there is a good chance the peoples republic will try and take your gun away under some anti gun law.

No doubt.. When I lived there I had to fight tooth and nail every time my CCP came up for renewal, if anyone hits a primer down there, they better dig a hole and keep their mouth shut or they can kiss the CCP goodbye along with any firearms they have..

To be clear... the deer was about 30 feet away from Otis

Like the dog in a Patrick McManus story - his dog considered the whole wide world as his yard and just didn't see the need to get in a fit over just a little bit of it.

My last post on this...Neighborhood member informed me he had adjusted three dogs attitudes after finding them in his Quail enclosure. Hopefully that solves the issue. He said they appeared to be strays... no tags or collars and very scruffy looking.

I hadn't heard THAT name in years, it took a quick search to discover that he just past away in April.
Do you supposed that he made his exit, laughing?

I certainly hope he did! I've got all his books (even the Sheriff Bo series) and have read them each several times - I loved his sense of humor.

I hear ya BUT you don't need to be posting on the internet or telling anyone what your intentions are. That could come back to bite you should they get a lawyer.

I agree with this. Don't post your intentions. Do what you've got to do!

Darn pack of Dogs are wandering the neighborhood, killing chickens, Goats, and everything else they can get to. I saw one of them at 5 am coming out of my mini's stalls (they were thankfully in a secure pasture) and just couldn't get a bead on it quick enough. This has been going on about two weeks now and the animals took off around my lake to another neighbors property. When I went to feed my Goats and Horses this morning, I found two of my Goats had been severely mauled.

I don't know if they belong to the neighbor or not, but I was told yesterday that they might. After getting the $300 vet bill for my goats that were attacked, my new policy is my land is a "your Dog is fair game Period" property if it crosses into my property. I have asked the neighbors in the past to keep their dogs off my land, but was told "dogs will be Dogs"... Wrong Answer......
I'm with you!

This is my problem solver, close or far away!

Pit bulls are friendly!

To everyone.....................................................

Except strangers....

My son's pit will let anyone onto the property, and into the house. She's a big teddy bear. We used to have another pit years ago. She was the same way. Like any dog, it's all in how they are raised and socialized.

Now both pits had to maul me every time they saw me. The mauling consists of them getting into my lap, covering me in kisses while I get there belly's and have them tell me how abused and neglected they were ;)

My pit years ago was jealous of any women that sat next to me though. She would have to climb up on the couch, plop her butt down on the women, lay her head in my lap and give me the doe eyes  :D

Summary: In the 13-year period of January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2017, canines killed at least 433 Americans. Pit bulls contributed to 66% of these deaths. Rottweilers, the second leading canine killer, inflicted 10% of attacks that resulted in human death. Combined, two dog breeds accounted for 76% of the total recorded deaths. [Table 1]
This report examines the breeds of dogs involved in fatal attacks on humans, age groups and genders of the victims, the number of dogs involved, family and dog relationships, property statistics, household and time factors, criminal prosecutions following lethal dog attacks and states with the most occurrences. This report also examines the changing metrics in U.S. fatal dog attacks since the CDC last examined this issue (1979 to 1998).
