Even my wife’s chihuahua would not tolerate a deer that close, much less the heeler and border collie.
the sad part is even though it's written in law in Massachusetts, the issue becomes if you use a gun for self defense, there is a good chance the peoples republic will try and take your gun away under some anti gun law.
To be clear... the deer was about 30 feet away from Otis
I hadn't heard THAT name in years, it took a quick search to discover that he just past away in April.Like the dog in a Patrick McManus story - his dog considered the whole wide world as his yard and just didn't see the need to get in a fit over just a little bit of it.

Do you supposed that he made his exit, laughing?
I hear ya BUT you don't need to be posting on the internet or telling anyone what your intentions are. That could come back to bite you should they get a lawyer.
I'm with you!Darn pack of Dogs are wandering the neighborhood, killing chickens, Goats, and everything else they can get to. I saw one of them at 5 am coming out of my mini's stalls (they were thankfully in a secure pasture) and just couldn't get a bead on it quick enough. This has been going on about two weeks now and the animals took off around my lake to another neighbors property. When I went to feed my Goats and Horses this morning, I found two of my Goats had been severely mauled.
I don't know if they belong to the neighbor or not, but I was told yesterday that they might. After getting the $300 vet bill for my goats that were attacked, my new policy is my land is a "your Dog is fair game Period" property if it crosses into my property. I have asked the neighbors in the past to keep their dogs off my land, but was told "dogs will be Dogs"... Wrong Answer......
