Never said I was on his property, and I did speak to the owner and he admitted he didn't know what to do, only had to tap him twice an the occasionally puff in the dirt. Dogs like people need different amount of discipline, just like the nuns whacking me, I needed it. In Florida outside the cities dog running on your property with no owner in site is free to be shot. Years ago we had some dogs killing cattle, farmer drove down our road and shot every dog runny loose, even though it didn't stop the killing. Moral keep your pets, you control them and if you don't someone's might be more severe. That pack of dogs on Christmas night about 3am jump my rotty over some steak bones from xmas dinner left over, when I went out and put two rounds in the air the three turned on me, I took two out fired high on the third but he left. Me and roy the rotty backed up to large oak tree as I crammed more rounds in shotgun, finally sat down and looked him over lots of blood but only found a few punctures on him. Me I had skinned knuckles from running the slide and holding a three cell light. A Xmas and a dog I will always remember. Turned out to be my neighbors dogs, I never told him he was already crazy and committed suicide within the year. Isn't life strange.

You admittedly said you pointed something that could be identified as a gun at someone’s property. Also you didn’t say you talked to anyone just to go and do it. That scenario you first described would have any of my neighbors taking drastic action. Meaning the use of a real gun and then simply telling the police you pointed it at them.

Discipline is indeed needed but what you are telling people to do is not discipline it’s abuse and as far as I can understand you could go to jail for what your telling people to do if the wrong people hear about it.
Me for one would be glad to convict you for it if I sat on a jury!

Pretty much the same topic came up last year in 3 different threads with a total of 572 replies.

Bottom line, as much as we claim how people who live in the country are "better" than those who live in the city, we come up with the same results... no matter where you live, there is a certain amount of people in the area who are total dumasses.

Sigarms,

You hit the nail on the head.

I'm with "Big George" and Paul on this one.

You try to harm one of my dogs, for any reason real or imagined...

And I fear for your immediate safety, and your long term health. I'm not going to the Sheriff, I'm coming to see you. And **** is coming with me. Like Paul said, I too am not trying to sound like some "internet tough guy". Not my intent at all. But I'm trying to get some wisdom pointed into your head. Not all folks will treat what you've done, and what you brag about on a public forum in the same manner. I'm referencing specifically you admitting that you've shot your neighbor's dogs for barking. I recommend you delete that post. I also recommend you don't try that again. Not all neighbors will be "princess-like" in their response. And I won't be bringing a pellet gun.

Far better to just talk to me like a civilized human first, about your "reasons".

My dogs are NEVER loose. EVER. And the only time they're ever out in their fully fenced back yard is when we are home, and they are either out there playing with us, or just out to do their business. The rest of the time, and ANY time we are not home, they are in the house.

He'll I shot my own rotty when he got stubborn about not following commands in the field, twice when I was out with him I had people comment how on well he behaved, one was at a dog show from a Judge, second time was K9 cops asked me who trained him. Alpha male rotty's you have form a bond with. So in my opinion you would only be supplying the training the owner wasn't up to. Long way from animal abuse.

I hope for your sake that you are merely showing "Internet Bravado", otherwise you have no business owning a dog. Guys like you make a good case for family planning.

Perhaps we should make some distinctions here...after all, it is a matter of degree. I recently read a post from a fellow who had shot and killed two pit bulls that were owned by a new neighbor, and were running loose. They had attacked an elderly man who had managed to get under a pickup, but they were still going after him. The man shot both with his CC .380, and no regrets. The dogs owner had little to say. I would have no qualms about shooting a dog that was attacking a human, in fact it should be expected. Dogs that attack and kill livestock are usually pretty short lived in this part of the country also.

I agree. In most states you can legally kill a dog who is on your property harassing, attacking or killing livestock and the owner of the dog is liable for any damages caused by their dog.

Yep. Big difference between dogs just running loose and attacking people/live stock. I would have shot those pit bulls too in that situation no question.

Dogs go after my horses.... same thing.

Dogs I mentioned in the op. No. Just find their owner and return them.

We have not seen them again in the last 24 hrs. Hope they got home ok.

You're lucky its just dogs. I've got a dumba$$ neighbor who has no respect for other peoples property. I've had his 2 saint bernards at my house sniffing my garbage cans and when I went to chase them off, one charged me. I went to see him and asked him to keep his dogs on his property. Next was 2 of his horses running around our house. I chased them off and went to talk to him again. Next was 6 cows running around on our property, crapping on our lawn and stomping through my wife's flower gardens. I went to talk to him again and his reply was ...... don't worry they'll come home. It took 4 days of looking for those cows on our property and trying to chase them home before they finally went on their own. In the meantime they were raising **** on our property. We are on 132 acres that is heavily treed, with some large grassed areas and the cows loved all the food on it. The neighbor is on 13 acres with very little vegetation and he has to feed his animals food that he buys. He doesn't give a **** when his animals get out and run around on other peoples property and that pi$$es me off. It would be different if he apologized and made an attempt to retrieve his animals as soon as he was informed but not him. Maybe next time I will fill my freezer with some free range beef.

A dog, cat or whatever on my property is a stray that gets turned in. What happens after that isn't my concern.
