Well, the loader cylinder finally got replaced and the throttle lever fixed. They left me a ZD221 to mow with while they had my BX(pretty fun to mow with). They did use teflon tape on the hose fittings on replaced cylinder, and didn't leave a service order w/ work they did to machine.....

:mad::mad:Uuuggghhhhh. I used the BX for 1st time on Monday since they "fixed" it. After I finished mowing, I noticed the newly replaced loader cylinder leaking out of the rearmost line connection-cylinder was wet w/oil,looks like it's seeping through the threaded connection-they used white teflon tape to seal the threads. What's the right stuff to use to seal the threads on a hydraulic hose? I'll do it myself, tired of these dealer idiots. Does the cylinder have to be bled someway if you take a line off?

Wow, almost a year gone by.Almost 161 hours now. Tightened up the loader mount brackets. The only thing that bothers me a little is that the 4wd is difficult to disengage sometimes, other than that, no other problems. I finally replaced those weak tie rod boots w/ the ones from Botaparts , the stock ones were already tearing apart. I bought a spinner for the steering wheel, man that makes life easier.... I ended up buying a set of the ag bar tread tires (front and rear), they don't make that industrial style tread for the size tires the 1870has. I ended up paying $432 (tax included), which I didn't think was too bad. I also had to buy a new ROPS knob bolt( the one that has round plastic handle)- caught a tree branch and broke a piece of the plastic off of it.

Thanks for the update, dbob! Seems you are getting good use of your BX. Are you putting most of your hours in mowing or other?

Most hours are from mowing. Finally got around to putting the bar tread tires on, supposed to get a bit of snow this weekend, so I can see how they are compared to turf tires. The throttle issue came up again when I started it up to change tires-good thing I did start it. The throttle springs back to idle, not able to pull throttle down and have it stay, same as what happened before. I investigated it this time, as I can't hold throttle and run the loader and steer at same time.... I took the mesh cover off under steering wheel- the throttle lever has a nut on bottom, compressing what looks like a couple washers, which is what holds the lever in position- I was able to turn nut by hand, so it had worked itself loose. A 12mm wrench tightened the nut up, and I decided that was last time it was gonna loosen up on me. I went to Home Depot and tried to guesstimate size of nut I'd need- closest to a 12mm wrench, but just a wee bit bigger was the M8 nut, so I grabbed a few different M8 nuts. It was a M8x1.25 nut, I used a nylon insert locknut, which needed a 13mm wrench. All set now...

Well, the bar tread tires I put on worked awesome in the snow. Definitely an improvement over turf tires, but they'll come off when spring time hits, as I think they will be tough on a soft lawn.

Try it on turf before you pull those bar treads. I took a (used) BX2200 to my daughter in Louisiana. It happened to have bar tread tires. They had around 2 acres to mow with a good bit of difference between the grassy areas (short and dry with hardpack out front, long and green and damp without hardpack in the back.) They had no complaints with the bars tearing up their turf. I ran it myself 3 or 4 times down there too and did not see a problem. The only area you could create trouble was making VERY tight turns.

See for yourself of course but unless you need to make a lot of very tight turns the bar tread will probably be OK for you.

I ran R4’s on my last BX2660 as they were spares I bought for loader work. Thought I’d switch back to turfs in spring. Never happened. They were just as gentle on the lawn. Sold them with the tractor when I bought my B2620. Now, with my BX2670, I am thinking of getting R4’s loaded with RimGuard for loader work and leaving them on thru mowing season, and probably selling the turfs. Sick of the amount of dog turds that get caught in the turfs and smell up my barn.

You guys don't have problems with the bar tires leaving the imprint in spring when ground is still soft? I have a lawn that tends to get some softer spots if we've had a lot of rain for a while.
