Woke up way before the alarm today w/ thoughts of tractor projects. Not good...gotta work 12 hour shifts the next two days. Am wondering how the delivery boys will contact me for the delivery time.

Gotta question.....would it be worth it for me to have them weld a hook in to the top-center of the bucket? I don't have a welder and am thinking that it would help in unloading the "required" implements from the pick up.

Heres a better one than getting garage space....being given a space in the barn that could be used for hay or another stalll!!

ps. my brother is now looking to buy a 7500!!! this seems to be contagious!!

Congrats on the new tractor. I have the same tractor and I love it. Great choice. Enjoy.

<font color=black> I had the dealer put one in the center for me yesterday before i took delivery on my B2410.
They welded a piece of angle iron across the top and attached a hook in the center. They did a nice job.
Might be a little pricy at 50.00 bucks but i guess thats shop prices.
Haven't had much computer time since the big orange showed up, but hopeful i will get a picture out soon.

I'm interested in having one mounted up. My brother in law will do it for me, but I want to see how they mounted the angle iron. On buckets similar to mine I have seen a lot bucket sbadly bent up by wrapping chains. The top does not look too sturdy so I'm interested in the angle iron they welded and how it was done. A posted picture would be great.

Thanks,
Kevin

I had her delivered w/o a hook. Figured it could wait 'till I found out exactly where it would work best. I ended up taking my landscape rake out of the truck w/ a J-hook & a 6' chain. That worked out pretty well except for when the J-hook slid on the bucket edge a bit.

I found out a friend has a portable welder so I'll hit him for a favor down the road.

Here is a photo of where I mounted the hooks on my B2710 if you are interested. There should be now damage to the bucket with the hooks on the ends.

Von,

I was just wondering how you make your hook-ups with the chain(s). I have a single center mounted hook on my current loader - and it seems to center the load or direction of pull. Wouldn't having the hooks out at the corners make for an uneven pull and possibly put a twist on the loader arms, or even worse - want to pull the tractor over? I know I see a lot of them out there with this configuration and I just always kind of wondered how well it works.

PowerMax, you're right in that you don't want to try to lift a heavy load from just one chain hook on the end of the bucket, but I think the two hooks are much better (at least for my use) because they're more versatile. I always try to center the load, but that can be done in a variety of ways. Sometimes I hook a short chain between the two hooks, then hook another chain to the center of it for a single chain pull, other times just run the chain around whatever I want to pull or lift, then hook each end to one of the chain hooks. If you want to pick up something like a log, you use both chain hooks; might be hard to keep it level with only a single hook in the middle. In other words, I like the two hooks, but always use both at the same time, never lift from just one of them.

Thanks, Bird. That's what I wanted to know. Just trying to figure the best configuration for my new B2910. I'm getting close to being ready for my new purchase. One more PowerMax to sell and I'll be placing the order. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
