...It sounds like you might have knocked the connector off of this last switch with some brush.

Well, I'm at work and the tractor doctor is on his way out to look at it. I have a hunch you're right. I'll ask them to show me where this connector is, and find a way to protect it.

Thanks...

Maybe your tractor's just mad at you because it was having so much fun and then you decided to stop!

A wash, wax, and champagne glass of diesel may get him/her/it running again.

(ha ha)

If you have my luck the tractor will start right up for the mechanic.

I don't like driving in brush. There have been ocassions where a piece got bent over, split and came up like a pointed spear. On my old tractor there are not as many shields as there is on the Kubota to prevent them from right at me.

But, anywhere you can see the ground there is a potential for something to get you. I am going to crawl under my tractor and see if there are any wires which could get damaged in a brushy situation.

LOL!!!! Ya know, the champagne glass of diesel might do the trick. I was surprised to notice that the fuel gauge never seemed to go down, no matter how much work I did. But I opened the fuel cap, and sure enough, could see fuel in there. Seems to me that guage should be going down. Maybe I have multiple problems. But, please God, don't let the service people come out and tell me I ran out of gas! :)

Yeah, maybe some of us can learn something from my little fiasco. I'm sure going to climb under mine and figure out what's vulnerable. This is probably a once in a billion chance that the brush hit the exact spot it did.. or maybe I just screwed up. Not sure which yet. Hopefully the vet will find the spot and I can find a way to protect it.

The funny thing is, we were doing so well, the tractor and me. I was thrilled at how well this job was going! Sigh. That's life.

Bob,
If they don't get out there today, you might also consider this, if you haven't already. I'm a fairly large guy. Fill up the tractor seat and then some. From your picture, it doesn't look like you have my physical bulk, but it may have occurred anyway. Once, while shifting back and forth in the seat, I managed to hit the pto engagement lever with my hip and push it far enough to trip the safety switch. When I started to get up, the tractor started to die. I sat back down and finally figured out what was going on. Since it didn't die completely, I'm not sure if you can start one of these tractors with the pto engaged or not. Just something else to check out.

Hoss

Hi Hoss,

Well, I moved the PTO lever back and forth trying to figure out what was wrong.. if it's that switch, then the switch is malfunctioning I think. I mean literally, I tried everything. My best guess now is that as I was pushing down little trees and brush, somehow one of the pieces of wood came up underneath the tractor and wrecked or at least put pressure on an interlock switch. I assume the tractor doc can figure this out and fix it, but if not I'll climb under and look around. If nothing else, I want to find a way to protect whatever part took the hit. I suppose I could even just disable this particular interlock. I'm carefull.. I'm always on the seat when I start it, I never take chances. I think I could live without this one interlock. As my friend just said, "driving a tractor over some brush shouldn't disable it completely.. it's a tractor!" /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'll let you guys know what the diagnosis is. Hopefully it's just something simple, maybe even covered under warranty. Hey, I could get lucky. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I had a NH 1220 that I was using to remove pricker bushes with, everything was going fine to I shut the tractor off.
Went to start it up nothing /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif started looking for wires that may of come off nope. Call the dealer he said it was a wire ,so I started crawling under the tracor sure enough it was a wire.

Well, my wife just sent me an email that the guy is out there working on it now.

She also admitted that she slipped the tractor a mickey.. a glass of *real* champayne! She's jealous of the tractor, whom she refers to as "Jezebel."

Will keep you posted on Jezebel's status. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Well, as fate would have it, I didn't get a chance to even look at the tractor last night after work. Various things of a domestic nature conspired against me.

All I know is that the guy came out, couldn't fix it, and now they are trying to figure out how to get it into the shop. She's about 100 yards from the road, with front blade down on the ground and rear dirt scoop the same. Getting the patient out of the field might require an Army helicopter! /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

They open at 8am, so I'll give them a call in half an hour or so and find out what their plan is. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif
