JD 4310 HST 4WD R4 Oversized
Hi all,

Have enjoyed lurking while deciding to buy my tractor. You guys have tons of information and insight that I'm sure we newbies find useful!

I ordered my 4310 yesterday. Now, I just have to suffer the wait until delivery...

Here's the goodies:

JD 4310, HST 4WD, 1 Rear SCV, Oversized R4's w/tubes & calcium
430 FEL with 61" HD bucket and hook kit installed
47 Backhoe with 13" bucket and a 9" (used) bucket.
i-match hitch.
72" rear blade adapted to i-match.
i-match ballast box (can never have too much ballast <g>)

Bought from Bryant's Tractor in Renton, WA

Congratulations, krnlhkr! If you have seen my posts, you'll understand how much I support your choice. It will be fun comparing notes on the tractors in the future.

Could you supply a bit more information on your bio? I was hesitant to do that at first, but it seems to help in getting to know fellow TBN members.

I'm not a good one to recommend patience at this point, but I'll suggest it anyway. Mine should be home in a couple of weeks.

Bill

krnlhkr,

Sounds like you have a really great machine coming. I see you are also located somewhere up here in the Seattle area. How did your experience go with that particular dealer you mentioned. I found Bryant's Tractor salesmen to be not friendly, not very willing to negotiate, and not very knowledgeable about the newer tractors that were coming in. In fact I'd decided to purchase a Kubota mostly because of the way the local JD Dealers around here acted. I did, however end up with a JD (used).

I'm assuming they were much more to your liking than mine. In fact, when I called them up and mentioned the rebate progam (corporate sponsored - that was discussed in great detail here on TBN) the dealer said he hadn't heard of it. When I told him that it was on the corporate web site only then did he start to recollect that he might have actually heard of it. Hopefully you were able to cash in on it. If this is news to you - use the search tool to search for John Deere Rebate. There was quite a thread on that topic.

Best of luck!

Congratulations from a fellow 4310 owner. Sounds like your getting a real nice setup and though time may seem to stand still it will be well worth the wait. I love my 4310!
Keep us posted!

The salesman I worked with was Jason. He was friendly to me, and I got a good price from him especially compared to the other area JD dealers that barely knocked anything off the list price. In fact, I got my 4310 with all those attachments for less than what the local Kubota dealer quoted me on their ~32hp L series tractor with just a loader and backhoe.

But, friendly is also relative. He was friendly enough for me to buy a tractor from at a good price. He wasn't too willing to negotiate on the phone and wouldn't fax me a quote (he did give me a price over the phone, though), but he said if I came in he'd put his quote in writing. I went in, and he did this, and I actually got a slightly better price than his original quote and some good advice. When I said I was ready to buy, I added some stuff to the list (like the imatch and the rear blade). I didn't negotiate real hard because I felt like he gave me a pretty good price.

I have to say I'm not the world's best negotiator, but I think I am OK at it. No matter what, I know they will make money off of me because that's their jobs. So, maybe I could have gotten more $$'s off, maybe not. In the end, I felt like it was a fair deal, and that I was being treated fairly.

As far as the rebate goes, He quoted me a price, and I mentioned the rebate to him, and he said his quote was before the rebate (which I got).

Maybe he was having a bad day or something... Are you sure we're talking about Bryant's in Renton near Boeing? There is also Barnett Implement in the area; they have several stores and they gave me a quote with very little discount (as did the other JD dealers). Did you go in person, or was it over the phone? I had a better time talking to him in person rather than over the phone.

Anyhow, if you ever buy more implements, it might be worth it to stop by rather than call. He easily beat all the other dealers in the area, and won my JD business away from a place that I had been buying GT235 equipment from for the last two years -- as long as he continues to offer me a fair price, of course!

krnlhkr:

Congrats on your new 4310. I'm just up the road on the outskirts of Monroe. And just received my new
New Holland TC29, equipped with a Woods 1012 loader and Woods 7500 backhoe, last week. Today was an absolutely beautiful day for tractoring. Hope yours arrives soon.

Hi,
I am also waiting for my new 4310 with 430 FEL. I was wondering just what the "Hook Kit" is that you mentioned for the FEL.

The hook kit is a reinforcing bar and a couple of hooks they weld to the top of the bucket so you can chain and lift things. In my case logs because I'm clearing my property.

Lots of people weld and/or bolt their own, but I don't have the welding skills (i.e., I have no welding skill at all) and I didn't want bolted ones, so I just had the dealer install it probably at a huge profit to him ($250 including labor). If you can weld, you can attach your own.

The thing I didn't get which I may call and add is a level indicator. This is a bar that helps you figure how tilted the bucket is on the FEL by its position.

Lou:

Did I here you right. Bryant charged you $250 for two hooks, a reinforcing bar and a 1/4 hour of labor. Brim tractor welded a pair of hooks on my new New Holland TC29 for free, without having to be ask. Standard operating procedure, I guess.

I got charged and over charged so may times at JD that I got sick of it. This is one of the primary reasons why I ended up looking at other brands.
I love my 318 but competition is there because it keeps people, dealers, and companies honest-and competitive!

Hi,
I JUST GOT MY NEW 4310 DELIVERED 6/5/02 E-HYDRO,72"
MMM,430 LOADER,43"R4'S,WORKS GREAT BUT AFTER A WHILE THE FLOOR BOARD GETS HOT AND I HAVE TO PUT
MY LEFT FOOT ON TOP THE BRAKE PEDALS,HAS ANYBODY
ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN???? THANKS

   / New 4310 owner! #13
I've got about 20hrs on my 4310 e-Hydro and have never experienced a hot floorboard problem... then again I wear boots while operating it!
How hot is hot?

   / New 4310 owner! #14
I would guess and say 100 degrees, but I have been wearing
tennis shoes,I like to be comfee ya know.Driving the 4310
is like sitting in your lazyboy w/the remote control in your
hand.I discovered how to use the loadmatch switch with the
cruise control, what a great feature!!The lower lamp lences
on the rops say SPEAKER,do they make speakers to go in place of this lence? Now I need to figure out how to dress it
up with some chrome?????

   / New 4310 owner! #15
Heck just operating it in the sun would get that black mat to 100 degrees! Yea to the lazyboy... it is one comfortable tractor. I'll have to take my boots off sometime to check the temp on the platform... As far as speakers go... why not a small TV (with a video player of course)? Joke! Actually a bug zapper (at least here in the Adirodack Mountains of NY) would be more pratical!
I love my 4310!

OK Jim now your gonna make me put a thermometer on it.
Thats OK now I'm curious.By the way what model Harley due
you have?I have a new Softail Standard.

   / New 4310 owner! #17
I have a '98 Road King... It and I will be heading for Laconia New Hampshire Thursday morning for 5 glorious days in the White Mountains!
About the that "Hot Foot" special you have... I really haven't noticed any heat coming from under mine and currently it is about 175 miles away from me so I can't even check for you. I will be with it on the weekend of June 22nd and I'll be glad to do a look/see what might be the heat source!
In the meantime... make sure your Hydraulic Oil level is OK... the sight glass should be full... I would imagine a low oil level would make things hotter then they sould be!

By the way where are you located??? (no Bio!) maybe we can do a little Harley-ing (I made that up) some day?

a hour of mowing hills, didn't have a thermometer to check
temp of floor board.I put my hand on the floor and it seems
acceptable.Sight glass is full on rear end, must be the cheap
tenny runners?I live in the Cedar Rapids Iowa area, grass
grows like crazy around here(lots of black soil). Those
Road Kings sure are nice bikes,a friend of mine just bought
