If any of you have driven Ag tractors, even they need to work their way up through the gears to get into top gear. Even between gears can be a wide gap and the shifting careful.
Learn to use the hydro correctly, slowly and smoothly and your transport range will work fine. It is not reasonable to expect it to behave like an automobile. 35 hp on a 3500lb vehicle doesn't have drag racer acceleration.
