New 4520r smell drives me nuts

The "acrid smell" comes from the DPF canister exhaust. Period. That the "smell" doesn't bother some of you is no different than the diesel "smell" doesn't bother others. I noticed mine the first time I started it in the shop and "acrid" is exactly the way I would describe it as well. After deleting the "innards" of the DPF filter I no longer have than smell. Just the smell of diesel exhaust, same as my Pickup.

They probably don't sell too much winter fuel "in the palm trees by the sea" locations. But your right, it could be the fuel.

Just out of curiosity....why would you want to pay more taxes than you have to? Just doesn't make sense! Not a personal attack, just purely curiosity.

Off road diesel may be hard to come by in some places. I have to drive 40 miles to where I can buy it. One place there will sell you no. 2 out of the pump for off road price, you have to go inside and sign a declaration, for want of a better word, and they discount the added tax. I asked them if they would fill a 55 gal. barrel, sure no problem. Maybe I'll do that rather than pay local price.

About a 10mi journey for me. I get my off road diesel and ethanol free gas at same place, in 5gal cans to support my BX and small engine drinking habits.
