New 8’ bucket today

I don't know HD, I think for $200 you should have jumped on it especially if you're loading from concrete bins. In today's world that $2400 doesn't seem out of line for the bucket, especially if it's well built. I'm pretty sure that an 8' BOCE is going on cost more than $200 when you need it.
Looks like you're diversifying your work description some.

I’m always going to be using it on soft ground, so no biggie on the cutting edge.
I had been using my Kubota 8’ high-cap bucket and it still doesn’t need an edge even after 8 years of using it on dirt.

Yesterday's fuel prices on the front range in Colorado.
It varies. Yesterday I paid $3.56 for regular.
Gas tax here in Colorado is $.22/gallon, Diesel is $.20.
Most think those taxes are too high, but the roads are good
so nobody complains much.

Have about 100 tri-axles of mushroom soil to spread and would prefer to use the Challenger over the Kubota since the Kubota is for sale.

Price on the bucket seems 10% high, but reasonable. What happened to the old bucket?
OTOH, 100 tri-axles of good soil of any kind would just flat break the bank here. Maybe $500 each delivered?

We pay .22 tax on gas and .29 on diesel in Michigan. The roads still suck majorly. The worst is we hear every excuse for high fuel cost etc. Yet we have a large Marthon refinery. I’ve noticed to living by a major border crossing that the fuel/gas prices are .10-.25 cents higher in the major cities and border crossing counties.

Mushroom soil, not “dirt”. lol
Mushrooms are grown inside in dark “houses” (concrete block barns) in a special soil made up of several ingredients (hay, straw, chicken litter, horse manure, lime and screened topsoil).
Once a batch of mushrooms has been grown in the soil, the soil is “spent” (as in spent for the nutrients required to grow mushrooms). Once it’s spent, it is removed and piled up on concrete outside of the houses. The soil is sold in small batches to locals as potting soil of gardening soil.
However, that’s maybe 1/100th of a percent of it. In fact, Scotts has a bagged soil facility in our area that uses spent mushroom soil as one of it’s ingredients. It’s sold at big box hardware stores like Lowes, HD, etc.

The other 99.9% is trucked out to local farmers and used as topsoil/fertilizer.

It’s a huge, but unique agriculture business in my area. We have a lot of horses and hay fields in my area. The mushroom industry seized on this 100 years ago and it’s been a relationship between horses, hay & mushrooms ever since.

CNY gas prices around $5.99 to $6.50.

Sad when it costs more for me to use my diesel tractor than my gas tractor.
